Denmark has introduced a fat-tax in order to fight obesity (肥胖症), heart disease and other serious diseases. The government wants to improve expectation of life and the health of the Danish people. Butter, potato chips, ground beef and pork are among the products that are to be taxed. After one or two years the government plans to see how the tax worked and if it has any effect on people's eating habits. Denmark already has tax on sugar and ice cream.
Although only 10% of the Danish population is overweight, the country's food experts think that fat may account for higher death rates. They also argue that the tax should not be limited to fats alone, because people might switch to other unhealthy foods with sugar and salt in them. Even if Denmark cuts the amount of fat that people consume only by a small part, it will be a signal to other countries that are watching closely, especially the European countries that are planning similar measures. Finland is working on a fat tax, based on the Danish model. Hungary has recently started to tax food that has a high share of salt, sugar and caffeine.
Denmark's fat tax is being opposed by the country's food industry, especially the meat producers. If people do cut more meat out of their diet, it may mean that farmers' earnings will decline. Denmark is one of the world's largest bacon and pork producers. On the other side, the new measure is expected to bring the government about $ 400 million additional tax dollars a year.
4.What is the main purpose of the fat-tax in Denmark
A.To adapt to people's new eating habits.
B.To increase the income of the government.
C.To help people keep healthier and live longer.
D.To push farmers to change old farming mode.
5.It can be inferred from the passage that .
A.Finland is the first to work on food tax
B.Denmark has the highest heart disease rate
C.food experts think the tax is not good enough
D.obesity rate in the Europe is surprisingly low now
6.What is the last paragraph mainly about
A.People's new diet after the tax. B.The effects the tax will bring.
C.The benefits of the measure. D.Producers’ reactions to the tax.
7.The passage is most probably taken from .
A.a food brochure B.a marketing report
C.a research paper D.a health magazine

Signs of Eating Disorder
About 30 million Americans live with an eating disorder. 8 Yet many others are often hidden in plain sight. It’s important to know the symptoms in those who might be at risk for an eating disorder.
They’re constantly talking about dieting.
The discussion around changing eating habits is incredibly common. Look at any lifestyle magazine or website and you’ll likely find dieting tips and advice. 9 If someone you love is constantly talking about food or their dieting habits, it might be a sign of concern.
10
Changes in mood or behaviors surrounding food or exercise can be signs of concern. This could mean a switch in activity level like overexercising, too often counting calories, frequently visiting the bathroom after eating, fasting or eating too much. 11
They’re constantly turning down food-centric social gatherings.
Avoiding social interactions such as birthday parties or going out to dinner with friends is a significant danger signal. People living with the condition have an intense focus on food or body image. They will keep away from situations likely ones that once brought them joy—where that determination might be tested.
The best way to support someone who may be experiencing an eating disorder is by talking with them, but when and how you do it matters. 12 Approach them with love and compassion, let them know that you care about them and that you notice that there is something they may be struggling with.
A.This also might come with a noticeable weight loss or gain.
B.However, being trapped in that discussion is a different story.
C.Their fitness or eating habits are constantly out of the ordinary.
D.Mood changes associated with eating may also be a danger signal.
E.It should be away from the normal routine and outside of a meal time.
F.Some symptoms of an eating disorder may be more visible to the eyes.

As a little kid, I was such a geek that I actually enjoyed math, and since my parents were often doing math with my older sister, I picked up some things by listening in on them. One of those things I learned ahead of my class was the impressive feat of adding a whole three numbers at once!
But when it came time for the class to learn the same thing, they didn’t add the numbers right — at least that’s what young me thought. Our teacher taught us to add all numbers in the ones column, then the tens, etc. By contrast, I’d always added the numbers by adding the first two and then writing the third number under the sum of the first two and adding those. The way I had learned seemed less error-prone(容易出错的). I mean, adding three whole numbers in your head at once — who could possibly manage such a feat So, I chose to ignore the way our teacher was teaching it and keep doing things the way my father had taught me.
Then, one day, the teacher had multiple problems written on the board and she called four or five students to solve their problems at the same time in front of the class. I was on the far end, away from the teacher, but I was worried that she would catch me doing things the “wrong” way,so I did things my way, put the answer, and then quickly erased my work so she wouldn’t see how I did things.
She wasn’t having any of that. When she got to me, she agreed that the answer was right but insisted that I needed to show my work. So now, I got extra attention as she made me redo my work in front of the class with her watching me as I did my math in a “wrong” way.
Para1: I was honestly expecting a scolding for not doing things the way she had taught us.
Para2: The next day our next math test came, and I was shocked by but proud of the requirements on the test.

Para. 1:
I was honestly expecting a scolding for not doing things the way she had taught us. Instead, she acted surprised and asked me to explain my “complex” logic for how I was doing the work to the class. At first, I spoke in a low voice, but she encouraged me to speak louder. Then she announced that was a good way and actually said she was fine with kids doing math however they wanted if they got the right results. Finally, she even helped me teach the class how to add three numbers at once.
Para. 2:
The next day our next math test came, and I was shocked by but proud of the requirements on the test. We were asked to add numbers the way she had taught us, but the very next question asked us to add the same numbers in MY NAME’s way. She continued to encourage kids to learn both ways, and I was proud to have a whole way of doing math named after me! That day, I learned that not only was it okay to think outside the box, but it was important to insist on something that we believed in. Thanks for being flexible, my dear teacher!
