The guidance and the use of Predicate and Non-predicate in Grammar Cloze Test

Analysis of the target content:
Predicate and Non-predicate play an essential part in Grammar Cloze Test. According to the nationwide Gaokao test papers in the recent three years, three tenses of Predicate have been tested: the present tense, the past tense, and the present perfect tense. In Paper I of 2019 and 2020, predicate takes up the most marks in Grammar Cloze Test.
Analysis of target students:
Most students are familiar with the basic structures of predicate and non-predicate. However, it is easy for them to make mistakes when writing down their answers and difficult for them to distinguish the function of the two when they are given passages to have a grammar cloze test. So it is necessary teachers to help them revise how to get the correct answers again. Meanwhile, let them practice such exercises more and think why.
Teaching aims:
By the end of the lesson, students are expected to:
write the structures easily and correctly;
distinguish the function of the two from each other;
sum up their solutions.
Main and difficult points:
Ss form correct thinking way to the solutions.

Activity1: Revision(7’)
Read loud the contents of the three charts in Ss’ papers.

划成分
(1) 当句中缺少谓语动词时,括号中的动词就是谓语动词。此时要考虑时态、语态、语气、主谓一致等四个方面。
(2) 当句中已有谓语动词,空格前又没有并列连词与括号中的动词并列时,所给动词要填非谓语动词。此时,就要根据非谓语动词的用法确定用其具体形式(to do, doing, done)。
▲易错点点拨
(1)长难句的成分划分,例如:
The HZMB, which connects Hong Kong, Macau, and Zhuhai—three major cities on the Pearl River Delta, ___________(cross) the Lingding and Jiuzhou channel.
(2)“by”前的谓语和非谓语, 例如:
①China has become the fourth most popular destination for tourists worldwide, with more than 60 million trips ___________(make) by people from other countries last year.
②It is said that more than 60 million trips ___________(make) by people from other countries last year, according to the United Nations World Tourism Organization.
