stone, weak, god, remind, bit, silly.
Step III Preview
1. To learn the new words.
2. To know the story about the Monkey King.
3. To try to retell the story in students' own words.
4. To find new phrases from the passage.
Presentation Step IV Reading
1.Read the passage in 3a silently and as quickly as you can to catch the main idea. Answer the questions:
(1) Which book is talked about
(2) Who is the main character
(3) What is he like
2. Read the passage again and complete the chart in 3b
3. Complete the sentences in 3c with phrases from the passage.
Step V Practice
Use the patterns to learn Grammar Focus.
1. How does the story begin
2. What happened next
3. Why was Yu Gong trying to move the mountain
4. Who is the Monkey King
5. What can't the Monkey king do
Step VI Grammar Focus
Go over the sentences in the Grammar Focus to find out the adverbial clauses in them. And tell which usage each of them belongs to.
作业 Homework: 1. Recite the new words and read the text.
2. Write a short composition and prepare some questions about your composition.
