One
can't discuss Chinese music without mentioning the guqin, one of the
four arts — along with go, calligraphy(书法)
and painting. It first appeared over 3,000 years ago and stands for China's
solo musical instrument tradition.
At
first, the guqin had only five strings(弦),
meaning the five elements of metal, wood, water, fire and earth. Later in Zhou
Dynasty, King Wen of Zhou added a sixth string for his son. King Wu of Zhou
added a seventh string to encourage his army to fight with the Shang.
Ambience
was important in playing the guqin. Usually, it was practiced in a quiet
setting and never for public performance. Ancient artists enjoyed performing by
a small river in the mountains. The sound of the guqin mixed with the
echoes from the mountains made the musician feel he was at one with nature.
Playing it in snow was also a nice activity for ancient artists, who believed
the instrument was the purest of its kind in the world. Also, a night with
moonlight was considered wonderful for playing guqin. Wang Wei, a
talented poet of the Tang Dynasty, liked playing it in a bamboo forest on nights
with moonlight most.
Guqin
pieces are usually three to eight minutes long, with the longest being Guangling
Verse, which is 22 minutes long. Other famous pieces include Plum
Blossomsin Three Movements, Wild Geese Landing on the Sandback.
Nowadays,
there are fewer than one thousand well-trained guqin players and perhaps
no more than fifty living masters. The original number of several thousand
pieces has greatly dropped to only one hundred works by today. The guqin
and its music was added to the list of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity(人类非物质文化遗产) in 2003.
6.How many strings did the guqin have when the King Wen of Zhou ruled the country
A.Five. B.Six. C.Seven.
7.Where is probably a right place to play guqin according to the passage
A.At a pop singer's concert.
B.At a welcome party.
C.By a river in the mountain.
8.What does the underlined word "ambience" mean in Paragraph Three
A.The wonderful instrument.
B.The environment around.
C.The weather condition.
9.According to the passage, which of the following is TRUE
A.Chess, calligraphy, painting and the guqin are the four arts of ancient China.
B.It may take Wang Wei over 20 minutes to play Guangling Verse in a bamboo forest.
C.The guqin masters can choose a piece to play from several thousand pieces now.
10.In which magazine can we probably read the passage

How
did you feel on the last day of a term Perhaps you were excited about a coming
holiday, or enjoyed it because you needn't get up early. No matter how you
felt, you probably weren't bored. However, you may also feel bored as the weeks
pass by. This feeling may make you feel upset, but it can actually be good for
you.
When
you feel bored, your brain is simply trying to find something to make its nerves(神经) active which scientists call stimulation(刺激). If it can't find stimulation, for example, by watching
television, your mind will look inside. That's when you daydream or you find
your mind "wandering". Scientists have found
that daydreaming gives your brain the space to solve problems and work through
things that are on your mind. It can also improve imagination, ideas and
creativity.
Sandi
Mann, a psychology(心理学) teacher who has written
a book called The Science of Boredom, believes that everyone should
accept feeling bored. According to her research, "People who are bored are
more creative." Mann also says that accepting boredom means you can hardly
feel bored, "because the more new and exciting things we experience, the
more we want, so we become less acceptable for the boring things."
Learning
how to accept and deal with boredom is important but it can also be hard. Many
people find boredom an uncomfortable feeling. That's OK —
with practice, you can learn to "sit with" that feeling and use it to
find fun and meaningful activities to do. There's also a difference between
feeling bored from time to time, which we all do, and feeling uninterested in
things over a long period, which means something wrong with you. If that happens,
talk to a trusted person who will be able to help you.
11.How would you feel as weeks pass by in your holiday
A.Excited. B.Bored. C.Lonely.
12.Which is NOT our brain's activity
A.We will never feel bored.
B.We will be in a daydream.
C.Our brain will find stimulation.
13.What does the underlined word "wandering" in Paragraph 2 mean
A.走神 B.沉迷 C.观察
14.According to Paragraph 3, what would Sandi Mann agree with
A.A man who is more creative will never become bored.
B.Accepting boredom means someone will get bored easily.
C.A man who has wonderful experiences hardly accepts boredom.
15.What's the main idea of this text
A.Good ways of how to have an exciting holiday.
B.How to improve imagination, ideas and creativity.
C.The advantages of boredom and ways to know about it.
【答案】11.B

Chinese cities.
A
report by online travel website Tongcheng Travel showed that during the recent
National Day holiday, camping-related searches increased by 117 percent
compared with September. Forests and islands were the two most popular
location(地点) types. Ji Nan, 31, from
Zhejiang, went camping with her friends in the mountains during the holiday. "Camping

Times.
However,
the demand for campsites(露营营地) is
greater than the available ones. "Everywhere is full and there is a tent
every several meters," a tourist from Beijing told Global Times.

Shuangfeng campsite, some of the land is barren(荒芜的)
from too much foot traffic. And rubbish, like bamboo sticks, paper cups and

One
can't discuss Chinese music without mentioning the guqin, one of the
four arts — along with go, calligraphy(书法)
and painting.

C.The guqin masters can choose a piece to play from several thousand pieces now.
10.In which magazine can we probably read the passage
A.The Sound of Music. B.National Geographic. C.Taste of Home.
(2023九下·长沙开学考)阅读下列材料,从每题所给的A、B、C三个选项中,选出最佳选项。
How
did you feel on the last day of a term Perhaps you were excited about a coming
holiday, or enjoyed it because you needn't get up early.
