珠穆朗玛峰:简称珠峰，是喜马拉雅山脉的主峰，同时是世界海拔最高的山峰，位于中国与尼泊尔边境线上，北部在中国西藏定日县境内（西坡在定日县扎西宗乡，东坡在定日县曲当乡，有珠峰大本营），南部在尼泊尔境内，是世界最高峰，也是中国跨越四个县的珠穆朗玛峰自然保护区和尼泊尔国家公园的中心所在。

尼罗河(Nile)是一条流经非洲东部与北部的河流，自南向北注入地中海。与中非地区的刚果河以及西非地区的尼日尔河并列非洲最大的三个河流系统。尼罗河长6670公里，是世界上最长的河流。

里海(Caspian Sea)是世界上最深（最大）的咸水湖，位于欧洲和亚洲的内陆交界处，面积最大的淡水湖则是北美洲的苏必利尔湖。里海拥有与海洋相似的生态系统，海运业发达。里海在地理学上属性为'海迹湖'，它与黑海最后分离成为一个内陆湖泊，距今不过1.1万多年。

撒哈拉沙漠约形成于250万年前，是世界仅次于南极洲的第2大荒漠，也是世界最大的沙质荒漠。它位于非洲北部，该地区气候条件非常恶劣，是地球上最不适合生物生存的地方之一。其总面积约容得下整个美国本土。
"撒哈拉"是阿拉伯语的音译，在阿拉伯语中"撒哈拉"为大沙漠，源自当地游牧民族图阿雷格人的语言，原意即为"大荒漠"。
