Off the north-west coast of Malaysia, a group of islands called Langkawi sits upon the sea. It’s the destination (目的地) of our recent school trip.
We got up early and jumped onto the boats. As the engine (引擎) of the boat hummed (嗡嗡作响), snow-white bubbles came out from below the boat, and the breeze (微风) rushed into my face.
The first island we arrived at was called the Island of the Pregnant (怀孕的) Maiden, whose name came from the mountains looking like a pregnant lady. We were allowed into the water for about half an hour, and I had fun playing with my partners in the water. All was fine until one of my water shoes fell into the lake. So I had to spend the rest of the trip with only one shoe on.
When we first walked through the forest, I thought it was a nice walk. But with only one shoe, my foot came across either cold pieces of glass or hot stones along the way. As the day went on, the land became increasingly jagged (凹凸不平的). I winced (皱起脸) with every step I took. But then something magical happened--I found a seashell the size of my hand by accident! I felt like I had found gold and all the pain was worth (值得) it.
The trip was a precious (宝贵的) experience--the beautiful sea views and the beach treasure hunt were wonderful moments for me. I’ve learned an important lesson from that day, which is not to focus on the bad memories, but to remember the cheerful feelings and value them.

It’s been 51 years since man last landed on the moon, but now NASA is planning to return as part of its Artemis mission (阿尔忒弥斯计划). This time, astronauts will be wearing a new high-tech spacesuit made by space tech company Axiom.
The spacesuit is black and orange, which will stand out (显眼) on the moon’s surface. The helmet is much larger than before, providing astronauts with a wider view. There’s also a video camera that can send videos from the moon back to Earth. The shoes of the suit are also better insulated (隔绝) from the moon’s cold surface.
Astronauts on missions before often found their suits large and heavy, making it hard to move easily. Having learned from a long history of spacesuits, this new suit has better mobility (灵活性). It has more joints (关节) so that astronauts can bend over, raise their arms and move their fingers more easily, reported the BBC.
Also, unlike spacesuits of the past, this one has been designed in different sizes with women in mind. Spacewalks on ISS (国际空间站) were impossible for women in the past because spacesuits didn’t fit them well.
NASA chief Bill Nelson said the new spacesuits “will open chances for more people to explore (探索) and do scientific studies on the moon than ever before,” according to The Guardian. This is in line with the plans of NASA’s Artemis mission to land the first woman on the moon.

C. Women were prevented walking on ISS because they weren’t fit.
D. There have been women landed on the moon by NASA already.
( ) 54. What can we infer (推断) from this passage
A. Spacesuits have a very short history.
B. Astronauts in old spacesuits can move more easily than in new ones.
C. Women will have more chances to explore the moon than men.
D. More people will be landed on the moon with the help of new spacesuits.

Dear Sir, Madam, Miss, Ms, friend, person from the future, alien from another planet,
My name is Jan. That's short for Janet. My aunt Suzie calls me Janet but my mum and dad and all my friends call me Jan. I live in a town called Port Prime.
It’s Thursday, February 25th 2010, and this is my time capsule. I hope you like it. Our history teacher, told us to make a time capsule for a history project. She says history doesn’t only include old dates, wars, politicians (政治家), kings and queens from the past. It’s also about the present. Our lives today are going to be tomorrow’s history.
She asked us to make a time capsule, put some interesting things inside it and write a letter to the person who finds the time capsule in the future (that’s you). In the letter we have to write about the things inside the time capsule and also write about our lives.
Let’s start with the map. This is a map of Port Prime. I downloaded it from the Internet. The big arrow is pointing at our house. The house is at the end of Hampton Street. It’s the last house in the town. It’s a new house. A lot of the houses in Port Prime are very old but the houses in this part of the town are all very new.
Next is the Kiwi key ring. Kiwi Technology is the name of a big company in Port Prime. Lots of people from the town work for Kiwi including my mum and dad. Kiwi makes portable music players. Mum and Dad help to design their new products. Their work is top secret. That’s why I never go to their office.
Finally, some sweets in case you’re hungry. And a Mika CD. It was a birthday present. I like Mika. He had a lot of problems when he was young but his music is so happy. You can read about him and Robert Pattinson in the copy of TM: Teen Magazine which I buy every week.
I hope you like the things in my time capsule. Kind regards, best wishes.

Plants start to grow freely from the ground in spring. In China, wild spring greens are traditionally popular as healthy food. They are still common in many dishes today.
Chinese toon shoot 香椿芽
Toon shoots are the best just before guyu (the grain rain), the sixth of the 24 solar terms. Guyu means that spring is about to end. This is when the leaves are the most tender (嫩的). It can be prepared with tofu. A famous writer Wang Zengqi once wrote about this dish in The Taste of Life (《人间滋味》): “Take a bite of toon shoots with tofu and you won’t forget it for three springs.”

The vegetable is usually boiled in water, cut and mixed with tofu and sesame (芝麻) oil.

It tastes a little bit bitter (苦的) and sweet and can be used in dumplings and wonton (馄饨) or cooked in soup. In traditional Chinese medicine, it is used to improve eyesight, deal with high blood pressure and stop bleeding (流血).
Luhao芦蒿
As a symbol of spring, luhao is thought highly of (被高度评价) by Song Dynasty poet Su Shi (1037-1101). He said that when the land is green and luhao is everywhere, spring has truly arrived. Before or during the solar term of guyu, luhao is very tender and is usually fried with meat. It tastes light and can be fried with ginger (姜), spring onion and a little chili (辣椒).
