However, while the moral of the story is clear, the actions of the king seemed pointless to me, because none of the characters in the story learnt anything. For this reason, I think there are better stories that can be used to impress on people the need for personal responsibility.

I’m more than delighted to introduce my favorite fable to you, whose title is “The Farmer and the Snake”.
It is about a story between a farmer and a snake. One day, a farmer saw a snake stiff, and frozen lie on the ground. He picked it up and put it in his bosom to warm it back to life. The snake soon revived and bit the farmer who were so kind to him. The bite was so deadly that the farmer felt that he must die. On his last breath, he said to learn from his fate not to take pity on a scoundrel.
The fable is intended to tell people that some people’s natures never change no matter how well we treat them. Instead, we should be alert and keep a safe distance from those only interested in their own gain.
I like the story very much and I think it is very meaningful and helpful to us. From this story, we should never pity evil persons. I will undoubtedly recommend it to all of you.
