Analysis of teaching material What: This lesson is from the People’s education edition, Go For It 7A Unit 3 Section A 1a-2d.The topic of this unit is things around you. Why: The aim of compiling the teaching materials is not only to make students realize the English of the things around them, but also to make them learn to ask and answer questions and to use polite language. How: In order to present the material, the topic background of this unit is the things around us, with sentence pattern “Is this your...” “Yes,it is/No, it isn’t” to carry out teaching. In this lesson, students will feel the use of possessive pronouns and Yes–no question. They will be able to use this knowledge to ask and answer questions about the objects around them.
Teaching objectives At the end of the course, most of the students were able to speak English fluently about the things around them and used Yes–no question and noun possessive pronoun to answer questions. This will be achieved by: 1. Students can learn the English names of the objects around them, and understand the questions and answers in the listening materials. 2. Students can according to the actual situation, ask questions or answer about the ownership of things around. 3. Students can use the relevant language expressions, and peer role-play.
Teaching focus Vocabulary:pen,pencil, book, eraser, ruler, dictionary, and their plural forms, and so on. Grammar: Yes–no question and noun possessive pronoun
Anticipated difficulties Students may feel it difficult to use the Yes–no question and noun possessive pronoun properly.
Teaching objectives 1.Students can learn the English names of the objects around them, and understand the questions and answers in the listening materials. Learning activities 1. Show the cartoon pictures of stationery and teach the students the basic words. 2. Play a game with the students. Flash a word, if the word is red, read it aloud. If it is black, read it aloud and spell it. 3. Word Matching, consolidate the students’ knowledge of the word. 4. Listen and number the dialogue. After listening, explain the possessive pronoun to the students. 5. Listen to the tape, tick the items you hear, and complete the dialogue.
2. Students can according to the actual situation, ask questions or answer about the ownership of things around. Explain the listening dialogue, and let the students imitate the dialogue and role play. Collect an item from each student before class. Now ask each student to come up and pick an item at random. Then use the dialogue template to communicate and return the item to its original owner.
3. Students can use the relevant language expressions, and peer role-play. 8. Let the students review the spelling of the new words and review the grammar in this class. 9. Role-play the last conversation in the textbook.
Homework Write a new dialogue and perform it with classmates.
