尽管是中国最著名的科学家之一,但袁隆平却把自己看成一个农民,…although 相当于though, 引导让步状语从句,不与but连用,但可以和yet, still连用.
例如:
Although I hurried , yet I was late again .
尽管我匆匆忙忙,然而我再一次迟到了.
This special strain of rice makes it possible to produce one-third more of the crop in the same fields .这种特殊的稻种使得同样的田地多收获三分之一的常量.make 多用越”make+宾语+宾语补足语”结构:
(1)make sb / oneself + 过去分词. 例如:
He can’t make himself heard at the meeting .
在会上别人听不到他的声音.
(2)make sb + 不带to的不定式(被动机构加to ). 例如:
What makes you think so ? 是什么使你这样想 ?
He was made to work at once . 他被迫立刻工作.
(3)make + sb/sth + 形容词. 例如 :
His coming to my my party made me happy .
他能来参加晚会使我很高兴.
(4)make + sb /sth + n . (宾语补足语如表示某人的职位,头衔,在一定范围之内的独一无二,其前不加冠词). 例如 :
Max made London the base of his revolutionary work .
马克思使路伦敦成为革命工作的根据地.
We all made him monitor . 我们都选他当班长 .Now more than 60% of the rice produced in China each year is from this hybrid strain.(1)more than 意为”多于…;超过…”,相当于over . 例如 :
We have more than 100 teachers in our school .
我们学校有100多名老师.
(2)more than 意为”不仅仅是,不只是”, 相当于not only .
例如:
Hibernation is more than sleep .如今,中国每年生产的稻米有60%以上出自这种杂交水稻.As a young man , he saw the great need for increasing the rice output . 年轻时, 他就看到了稻田增产的巨大需求 .as 的用法:
(1)as作介词, 意为”如;像;作为……;以……资格”.例如;
What does “quake” mean , as in the word “earthquake” ? 像earthquake 中的quake 是什么意思?
(2)as作连词,意为”当……时候 ” , 引导时间状语丛句,多表示主,从句谓语动词的的动作同时发生,与while 相近. 例如 :
As she sang ,tears came down her cheeks . 她一边唱歌,一边流泪.
(3)as引导原因状语从句时,相当于because ,since, 意为”因为,由于”.例如:
As he is a qualified doctor , I trust his advice on medical matters .
因为他是一位合格的医生,所以在医疗问题上我相信他的建议.
(4)as引导方式状语从句或比较状语从句,意为”如,像”.例如:
She stayed in bed as the doctor had ordered . 她依照医生的嘱咐卧床休息.
(5)as引导让步状语从句, 意为”尽管”.例如:
Young as I am , I know what career I want to follow .

袁博士在不增加土地面积的基础上寻求达到增收的途径.search , search for , look for 的用法区别
(1)search 为及物动词,其宾语可以是人,房屋,衣袋,山,森林等名词,意为”搜索或者搜索某地”.例如:
The policeman searched the thief’s room , but found nothing .警察搜了小偷的房间,但什么都没找到.
(2)search for 意为”搜索,搜索某人或某物”,而search…for…意为”搜寻某处/某物以找到…..”.例如:
The policeman searched the thief for a wallet .
警察搜小偷的身来寻找一个钱包.
(3)look for 意为”寻找”,是常用语.例如:
He is looking for his pen everywhere .
他在到处找他的钢笔.Using his hybrid rice , farmers are producing harvests twice as large as before.
用他的杂交水稻种子,农民们种出比以前多一倍的粮食.在表示三倍或三倍以上的倍数时,我们通常常用time 一词. 用time 表示倍数有以下几种句型:主语+谓语+…times + as + 形容词 + (n.) + as + 被比较的内容. 例如:
We got four times as many people as we had expected .
来的人数是我们所预料的四倍.
这种句型常用来表示A是B的多少倍
主语+谓语+…times + 形容词的比较级 + than + 被比较的内容. 例如:
My books are three times more than yours . 我的书比你的书多三倍.
这种句型常用来表示A比B多多少倍.
主语+ 谓语+by+…times .例如:
Compared with that of last year , our coal output has increased by three times . 与去年相比,我们的煤常量长了三倍.
这种句型常用来表示增长的程度.主语+谓语+…times + the size (amount, length…) + of + 被比较的内容. 例如:
The earth is 49 times the size of the moon . 地球的体积是月球的49倍.
这种句型常用于尺寸,体积,数量,长度等的比较.
主语 + 谓语 + …times + upon/over ….例如:
The size of the sun is 1.3 million times over that of the earth. 太阳的体积是地球的体积的130万倍.
这种句型用来表示”……超过……的多少倍”.
在表示两倍时,我们常用twice 或double.例如:
This year we have produced twice as much grain as we did last year . 我们今年生产的粮食是去年的两倍.
The box is one -- third bigger than that one. 这个盒子比哪个盒子大三分之一.
The output value was 59 percent higher than that in 1976. 产量比1976年增长百分之五十九.
