The Great Wall is a Chinese fortification built from the 5th century BC until the beginning of the 17th century, in order to protect the various dynasties from raids by Hunnic, Mongol, Turkic, and other nomadic tribes coming from areas in modern-day Mongolia and Manchuria. Several walls, also referred to as the Great Wall of China, were built since the 5th century BC, the mostCheck your homeworkfamous being the one built between 220 BC and 200 BC by the first Emperor of China, Qin Shi Huang; this wall was located much further north than the current wall built during the Ming Dynasty, and little of it remains.
The Great Wall was originally a project of Qin dynasty designed to keep out the nomadic Xiongnu invaders from the north. Some of the wall was built during the Qin, but most of it that we see today was constructed during the Ming dynasty.
The Great Wall is the world's longest man-made structure, stretching over a formidable 6,352 km (3,948 miles), from Shanhai Pass on the Bohai Sea in the east, at the limit between "China proper" and Manchuria (Northeast China), to Lop Nur in the southeastern portion of Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region . Along most of its arc, it roughly delineates the border between North China and Inner Mongolia.

me to leave the house right away because the river
was going to flood. Suddenly I noticed that water was
coming into the house. I was really worried because I
knew that the house would soon be flooded. I put
Brian into his backpack and the cat in its basket and
we rushed out the front door as fast as we could, the
dog swimming beside me. At first I couldn’tthink what to do, then I ran over to the car. First I
pushed the cat and dog onto the roof then I climbed
up on it myself. I looked down and saw the water was
still rising. I was frightened.
We stayed on the roof for about two hours and all
the time the water was getting higher and higher. I
didn’t know what to do next. Then all of a sudden I
saw a motor boat coming towards us. It was Tony! We were going to be rescued. A few days after Sara was rescued from the flood she told her mother about her experience. Listen and notes about the main events
in the story. Then use your
notes to make a timeline,

when Sara climbed
onto her car and
ending at 6 pm when
she arrived at the

Jane and I had been waking in the mountains when we noticed some dark clouds coming down the mountain. We decided to turn around and go home.
As we walked the clouds got nearer and nearer and the day grew darker. Then all of a sudden it began to snow. It was soon snowing so hard we couldn’t see very far in front of us. Holding each others’ hands so we couldn’t get separated, we continued down the mountain. But the snow got deeper and deeper. Walking became harder and harder. We began to get very tired and very frightened.
After a while the path became buried under the snow and we didn’t know which way to go. We were completely lost. We found some shelter behind a big rock. Hugging each other for warmth, we stayed like that until the storm was over.
Luckily it only lasted an hour or two. Then the sun came out again and we could see our house in the distance. We were so relieved we both burst into tears.Homework Finish your diary and share it with your classlmates .
