教学目标
◇ 语言知识目标
1. 在语境中运用词汇、短语helpful, never tell a lie, kind, friendly, help each other, help other people, keep one’s promise。
2. 在语境中运用句型What do you like to do with your friend 和 What do you like about your friend
◇语言技能目标
1.在原有朋友话题学习的基础上,进一步谈论朋友的性格并能够描述和朋友一起喜欢做的事。
2.培养学生综合语言运用能力,从多角度对朋友进行符合语境的描述。通过 ‘Journey to the West’的活动,从听、说、读、写方面训练学生熟练用英语谈论人物。
◇学习策略目标
引导学生课前预习,课中启发学生积极思考。借助小组合作的形式互助互学,通过谈论、交际、猜测来对学生听说读写、语法、阅读,写作的学习策略有意识地进行培养。
◇情感态度目标
通过创设情境、任务等引导学生要善于发现朋友的优点,取长补短。另外,通过谈论‘What is a friend like ’来启发学生爱朋友,珍惜朋友。
◇文化意识目标
借助文本拓展,了解西方人的习惯,风俗以及不同的信仰,如‘She believes in God’等;另外谈论《西游记》中主要人物这一活动也使学生对中国名著有更进一步的了解。
学情分析
学生通过以往五年半的英语学习,已经有了较强的语感及表达能力。相当一部分学生从根本认识到了学习英语的重要性并对英语产生了深厚的兴趣,愿意开口说英语。但这个时候往往容易进入学生学习英语的瓶颈期,所以要在课堂中选择合适的活动、多关注不同学习差异的学生,面向全体的同时,各层次学生均有提高。
学生已学习了相当数量描述人物外貌、活动的词句,这也为本节课谈论人物的话题做好了必要的积累,结合本课所学,学生会在谈论人物的话题时,语言更丰富、从量到质的提升。
学生掌握描述人物的单句并不难,但是要分层次清晰的介绍朋友并形成语篇输出,是对高年级学生的要求,还是有一定难度的。
重点难点
◇教学重点:
1.准确贴切地使用单词、短语:helpful, never tell a lie, kind, friendly, help each other, help other people, keep one’s promise。
2.在语境中学习句型‘What do you like about your friend 和 ‘What do you like to do with your friend ’,并综合运用于写作,清楚它们之前的联系和区别。
◇教学难点:
通过有意义的操练活动,准确运用动词(作谓语)和形容词(与be动词搭配作谓语),形成语篇。
教学过程
【导入】Warming up and leading in
Greeting.
2. Sing a song. Teacher sings and students follow. Then lead to the new lesson” Will you be my friend ”
【讲授】Presentation and learning
Task: Choose a friend.
1)Show four photos of children and introductions about their good characters, hobbies and small weak points. Ask students to choose a friend and tell what they like about him/her.
2).sing the second song with the new words and expressions.
2. Listen and read, then answer the questions. Show a photo of Miss Guo Alice and Kitty. Ask students to say who are their friends and what they like about their friends.
Guessing game:
Show a picture of the five main characters in ‘Journey to the West’. Talk about their good and weak points of them in groups. Then guess who other groups are talking about.
Brainstorm and talk:
Ask students to volunteer to express ‘If you have a chance, which of the five characters would you like to be friends with ’
【活动】Consolidation and Extension
Read and answer the questions.
Show a picture with introduction about the teacher’s friend Jackson.
Make students know the associations and differences between ‘What do you like to do with your friend ’ and ‘What do you like about your friend ’

Write about your friend:
Show some hints for students to describe their friends.
Check with the slide show.
【测试】Conclusion
What is a friend
Teacher compares friends as … and encourage students to compare friends to different daily necessities.
With graceful music, teacher sums up ‘what is a friend to us ’.
【e.g.A friend is a book, we learn from the book. A friend is an umbrella, it keeps us away from storms. A friend is a coat, it makes us feel warm all the time…】
