Rules about “the” ①
通常说话中初次提到的人或物的名词前用不定冠词,以后再次提到同一人或物时已明确所指的对象,具有特指意义,所以名词前面须用定冠词。
表示世界上独一无二的事物的名词前须用定冠词。

a.定冠词the在元音音素前发/ i:/或 / i/ ;在辅音音素前发/ /。判断一个单词是以元音开头还是以辅音开头,应根据音标而不是元音字母 a, e, i, o, u。
b. 同时,不定冠词a和an的发音也遵循这条规则,即a用在以辅音音素开头的单词前,读作/ /,只有强调时才读作/ei/。 an用在以元音音素开头的单词前,一般读作/ n/,只有强调时才读作/ n / 。
