一、Teaching aims:
Knowledge aims: Ss can read and understand the new words: was, then, grandparent, were, young, old, hair, so, short, long and say these sentences: I was two then. You were so cute. Your / Her hair was short then. Now my/ her hair is long. Ss can say the dialogue correctly.
Ability aims: Ss can use the sentence pattern “I/She/ He / Sb's hair was ... then. You / They/ We were ... then. ” to talk about the appearance or personality and age of someone.
Emotional aims: Ss are willing to speak English.

Teaching Key Point: Ss can use the sentence pattern “I/She/ He / Sb's hair was ... then. You / They/ We were ... then. ” to talk about the appearance or personality and age of someone.
Teaching Difficult Point: Ss can master the usage of was and were.

Step1: Pre-listening
1. Listen, point and say.
Learn the new word: was. 板书 I was short. Now I'm tall. Read together. Then ask and answer. T: Who's this Ss: It's Sam. T: How old was he then Ss: He was one. T: Look, compare, Sam is tall now, How about then 用手指Sam一岁时,引导学生说出句子He was short. Learn the new word: then.
Step2 While-listening
1. Listen, point and find “was, were”.
点读笔放录音,请同学们认真指图指句子,找出含有was和were的句子。 Learn the new words: were, young, hair, so, short. We are young now.
2. Listen and answer.
Learn the new word: grandparent, old. 板书They are old.
3. Look, listen and answer.
T: What's the difference between Lingling when she was a child and now What does Amy find and say 点读笔播放录音。Ss: Your hair was short then. T: How about now What does Lingling say 点读笔播放录音。Ss: Yes, now my hair is long. Learn the new word: long. 板书句子My hair is long. T: Look at my hair, my hair is long. How about you, ... Can you talk about your hair Short or long S1: ... S2: ... S3: ... T: Can you find any else about Lingling She was two then. Her hair was so short then. Now her hair is long. Anything else 老师可比划引导学生说句子She was short then. Now she is tall.

Step 4 Homework
1. Listen and imitate the new words, A1 and A2 three times. 听音并模仿跟读新单词和活动一、二部分内容。
2. Copy the new words and key sentences(P28A3) twice. 抄写新单词和28页活动三重点句两遍。
3. Draw and write out the differences between the appearance of your grandparents then and now, by the key sentences: My grandparents were ... then. They were ... then. Now they are ... 画并写出爷爷奶奶以前和现在模样的不同,用上本节课重点句。
4. 完成同步练习册Module 5 Unit 1部分。
