特别注意 用于强调句型的until不能用till替换。

since意为“自……以来”,后接表示时间点的名词或名词词组,或引导时间状语从句,表示从过去的某一时刻开始持续到现在,强调到目前为止发生的动作,常与现在完成时连用。since引导时间状语从句时,从句常用一般过去时,表示动作的完成或结束。
Things have changed a lot since I wrote to you last time. 自我上次给你写信以来,情况发生了很大变化。
They have been friends since they met for the first time in London. 自他们在伦敦第一次见面以来,他们就一直是朋友。
since引导从句时,常用于句型“It is/has been+时间段+since从句(常用一般过去时)”。
特别注意
在“It is / has been+时间段+since从句”中,若从句谓语为非延续性动词的过去式,表示肯定含义;若从句的谓语为延续性动词或状态动词的过去式,表示动作或状态的完成或结束,表示否定含义。比较以下两个例句:
It is three years since the war ended. 战争已经结束三年了。(end为非延续性动词,表示end这一动作发生至今已有三年)
It is three years since he lived here. 他不在这里居住已经三年了。(live为延续性动词,表示live这一动作结束至今已有三年)

1 动词不定式(短语)作表语
动词不定式(短语)作表语通常用来说明主语的具体内容(职业、职责或性质等),也可以表示目的、愿望等,其主语通常是aim, duty, hope, idea, job, plan, problem等名词,或what引导的主语从句。
A college counsellor's job is to help students adjust to college life. 大学辅导员的工作是帮助学生适应大学生活。
His ambition is to become an actor. 他的理想是成为一名演员。
What you should do is to maintain confidence and patience. 你应该做的就是保持信心和耐心。
特别注意
①常见的后接动词不定式(短语)作表语的系动词有appear, seem, prove, remain等。
Our English teacher seems to have known the secret. 我们的英语老师好像已经知道这个秘密了。
Whether we will succeed or not remains to be seen. 我们是否会成功仍有待观察。
②当主语部分含有实义动词do的某种形式时,不定式(短语)作表语时通常省略to。
All I can do now is keep silent. 我现在所能做的就是保持沉默。

2 动词的-ing形式作表语
(1)动名词(短语)作表语用来泛指某种动作或行为,以说明主语的具体内容(身份、性质或情况),即解释主语“是什么”。
动名词(短语)作表语时放在系动词之后, 可以和主语互换位置,意思仍然通顺。
Her job is cleaning offices. 她的工作是打扫办公室。(动名词短语作表语)
Cleaning offices is her job. 打扫办公室是她的工作。(动名词短语作主语)
(2)现在分词(短语)作表语用来表示主语所具有的特征,即解释主语“怎么样”。
His concern for his mother is most touching. 他对自己母亲的关爱很感人。
His words are very encouraging. 他的话很鼓舞人心。

3 动词的-ed形式作表语
(1)动词的-ed形式作表语常表示主语的状态。需要注意的是,有时候并无完成或被动之意,而是表示主语的状态或感受。作表语的过去分词基本上都已经形容词化,通常译为“感到……的”。
Having heard the encouraging words, that boy was encouraged. 听完这些振奋人心的话,那个男孩受到了鼓舞。
特别注意
少数不及物动词(如go)的过去分词也能作表语,但它们不表示被动意义,只表示动作已完成。
They are gone for vacation. 他们度假去了。
(2)动词的-ed 形式作表语通常放在系动词后面。最常见的系动词就是be, 除此之外还有become, turn, get, grow, seem, appear, remain, sound, look, feel, taste, smell等。
You seem frightened. 你看样子受了惊吓。
She felt so amused after reading an amusing story. 她读了一个有趣的故事后感到很开心。
特别注意
动词的-ed形式作表语和动词的-ing形式作表语的区别:及物动词的-ed形式作表语表示“感到……的”,而-ing形式表示“令人……的”。常见的这类词有: interesting有趣的/interested感兴趣的; exciting令人激动的 / excited感到激动的; disappointing令人失望的 / disappointed感到失望的; encouraging令人鼓舞的 / encouraged受鼓舞的; pleasing令人愉快的 / pleased感到愉快的; puzzling令人费解的 / puzzled感到费解的; satisfying令人满意的 / satisfied感到满意的; surprising令人惊讶的 / surprised感到惊讶的; worrying令人担心的 / worried感到担心的。

Picasso painted mostly from imagination or memory, and he preferred to paint individuals whose lives had impacted his own. Guernica is probably Picasso's most famous work. It shows the tragedies of war and has gained a monumental (不朽的) status, becoming the embodiment (化身) of peace.

Vincent van Gogh, one of the most well-known post-impressionist artists, for whom colour was the chief symbol of expression. When Monet travelled to Paris to visit the Louvre, he saw painters copying from other painters of skill. Monet would instead go and sit by a window and paint what he saw. whose引导定语从句时在句中作定语,其后应紧跟名词,构成名词短语。whose在从句中多指人,也可指物,可用of which / whom代替,即whose+名词=the+名词+of which / whom=of which / whom+the+名词。

see, watch, notice, look at, hear, listen to, feel, smell等感官动词可用于“感官动词(短语)+宾语+宾补”复合结构。其用法如下:
①后接不带to的不定式(短语)作宾补时,强调动作的整个过程或动作经常发生。
②后接现在分词作宾补时,强调动作正在进行。
③后接过去分词作宾补时,表示与宾语之间为逻辑上的被动关系。
