Q1: Do you know what kind of festival they are celebrating is
Q2: Which month do we celebrate it
3. Lead students into today’s lesson: Spring begins from March.
Step 2 Pre-listening
1. Lead students to review some words about months, like “October”, “September”, “December” by the stick figures and the descriptions. For example, draw a Father Christmas on the blackboard and let students guess what it is. The students could get the answers easily. Then tell them Christmas Day is coming and ask them a question: Do you know which month it is in December. It is the last month of the year. Write down the words on the blackboard. After this, ask students to read the words loudly by syllable after the teacher.
2. Ask students to guess what the listening material is mainly about according to the words on the blackboard and pictures on the screen. Then invite one or two students to stand up to share their opinions with the whole class.
Step 3 While-listening
1. First listening
Ask students to listen to the tape for the first time and get the general idea of the passage. Then tell students write down the key words while listening. Then choose one student to share his or her opinion: they are talking about favorite seasons.
2. Second listening
Ask students to listen to the tape for the second time. They need to extract some detailed information and then fill in the table on the blackboard. Then invite one student to the front to write his/her answers and check the answers later. Then introduce the sentence patterns “Which is your favorite season ”, “Why ”, and “Because...” to the students. And explain the function of the sentence structures.
3. Imitation
Ask students to repeat after the tape and pay attention to the pronunciation skills.
