Analysis of the unit(单元教学内容分析)
1. 本单元的话题是“My Neighbourhood”。单元的内容主要围绕社区环境和社区邻里展开,。它包含六个语篇:L19是王梅和李明对未来理想社区的畅想,L20-L21介绍了上学路上途径的地方和去电影院的路上发生的事,L24介绍了Michael的社区,L23介绍了Brain社区里的人们,L24回顾了Brain来到新社区后的生活。本单元教学的主要任务是帮助学生了解和介绍自己的社区以及社区环境,此外还要让学生进一步了解如何指路。
2. 主要语法项目是“because”引导的原因状语从句。
3. 语言功能项目包谈论社区和指路。

T will help Ss develop their skills of
A) listening and reading by training their micro-skills, such as predicting, getting the main information by listening, understanding the text by detailed reading, integrating and applying the new knowledge, summarizing and so on.
B) doing things in English, such as using “because” to express their reasons , giving directions or showing the ways by using “Go straight down this road /street” ,“Turn left/right at the ...” and so on.
2. Cultural awareness
A)They can describe the differences between Chinese neighbourhood and western neighbourhood.
B) They can establish a healthy aesthetic taste by designing their perfect neighbourhood.
3. Thinking quality
A) Ss can find out, discriminate and summarize the new linguistic phenomena.
B) They can construct a new concept based on the information in the unit.
C) They can creatively voice their own ideas about their neighbourhood and imagine a perfect neighbourhood.
4. Learning ability
A) Ss will keep their interest in and participate in learning English actively.
B) They will use some English learning strategies, such as previewing, forming a good habit of studying, concentrating on their studies in class, cooperating with their group members and so on.
C) They will improve their learning ability by reading some more extended reading materials in or out of class.
