Some people think only school children do not agree with their parents, however, it is not true.
Communication is a problem for parents and children of all ages. If it’s hard for you to communicate with your parents, don’t worry about it. Here are some advice for you to bridge the
generation gap (代沟).
Don’t argue with your parents. Don’t get to your parents when you are angry. Your parents probably won’t consider your ideas if you are shouting at them. And you can’t express
yourself well if you are angry. Go someplace to cool off. Make sure you understand why you are unhappy. Then think about what you want to say to your parents. If you don’t think you can speak to them at the moment, try writing a letter.
Try to reach a compromise ( 和解). Perhaps you and your parents disagree on
something. You can keep your disagreement and try your best to accept each other. Michael’ s mother didn’t agree with him about buying a motorcycle. They argued over it. But they finally came to a compromise. Michael bought the motorcycle, but only drove it on certain days.
Of course, your parents might refuse to compromise on something. In these situations, it is especially important to show love and respect to them. Showing respect will keep your relationship strong.
Talk about your values. The values of your parents are probably different from those of your own. Tell your parents what you care about, and why. Understanding your values might help them see your purposes in life.
A good relationship with your parents can make you a better and happier person. It is worth having a try!

My friends say that I ’ m good in English, because I always get good marks in
English tests. They think I’m a talented girl and I’m clever at English.
But in fact, I ’ m not a talented girl. I ’ m just a common girl. I ’ d like to say something about my experience of learning English.
I didn’t do well in English in the beginning. I started my English course at the age of 10. Maybe you can’t imagine I couldn’t say a whole sentence at that time. I was sad, but I wasn ’t afraid of it. I just learned English hard. I spent almost all of my free time practicing English by listening to the tape and repeating after it. Soon I found I had made great progress in my English. At last, I could understand what the teacher said in class. Then slowly, I could get good marks at times. I knew that studying isn’t easy, so I spent much time reading more, listening more, writing more and talking more every day.
I have some other advice as well.
Don ’t be nervous and try to be relaxed when you write articles or talk to foreign teachers or your own English teacher. Remember: Don’t pay too much attention to details when you are talking. If you have some mistakes, that’s all right. Think and talk in English and never give up. It’s never too late to practice English.

( ) 15. The writer mainly tells us her experience of learning English and how to learn English well.

Smart phone, poor sight
Look around and you’ll see people busy on their smart-phones. Smartphones
(智能手机) do make our lives easier. But have you ever thought about what they mean to your eyes
According to a study, half of British people own smartphones and they spend an average of two hours a day using them. There has been a 35% increase in the
number of people in the UK who suffer from shortsightedness( 近 视 ) since
smartphones were introduced there in 1997.
Staring at smartphones for long time gives you dry eyes. When looking at something in the distance(距离),your eyes automatically blink(自动闪烁) a certain number of times. However, when you look at things closer to your face the blinking slows down. This reduces the amount of tears and causes discomfort in your eyes. Another bad habit is using smartphones in dark room before going to sleep. If you look at a bright screen while your pupils(瞳孔)become larger, too much light enters your eyes. This can do harm to the eyes and cause a disease called glaucoma(青光眼).
While you’re probably not going to stop using your smartphone, there are a few things you can do to protect your eyes. Hold your phone at least 30 centimeters away from your eyes when using it. Take a break every hour and try the following: look at something at least five meters away from you and then focus on the tip of your nose. Repeat this several times it could reduce the discomfort in your eyes.

六、书面表达(共1小题,计12分)
The hero in my heart
Everyone has his own dream. My dream is to be an astronaut. The hero in my heart is Ye Guangfu. Let me tell you something about him.
Ye Guangfu was born in Chengdu, Sichuan in September, 1980. He was born in a farmer’s family. His father died when he was 8. When he was young, he was interested in space and dreamed of being an astronaut. In 2010, he became an astronaut because of his perfect health and good grades. Since October, 2010, he has been in space station with Wang Yaping and Zhai Zhigang for 6 months.
In my opinion, Ye Guangfu is the pride of China. We should learn from him. As teenagers, we should study hard and improve ourselves. We should take more exercise to keep healthy. We should hold on to our dreams and never give up. One day, we’ll make our dreams come true.
