Writing workshop:A Survey Report
Text analysis
This is a writing class, first we will read a survey report about city residents’ attitude towards environmental protection and what actions they had taken. The topic is environmental protection and the theme is Human and Nature.
Teaching objectives:
At the end of this class, students will be able to:
1. Acquire the information about the residents’ awareness of environmental protection and actions from the survey report.(when, where, who, purpose and interview questions and findings)
2. Understand the structure and language of a survey report.
3. Use quantity expressions to describe graphs.
4. Write a survey report on shared bikes.

Teaching procedures:
Step 1 Warm-up
Last week, our school interviewed 1000 senior students to find out whether they like to use shared bikes and their reasons. You are going to write a survey report on shared bikes. Do you know how to write one.
Step 2 Read for Idea
Read the survey and answer the questions.
1) Who conducted the survey
2) When and where was the survey conducted
3) How many people took part in the survey
4) What’s the purpose of the survey
5) What questions are asked
6) What are the findings
Step 3 Read for Structure
How many paragraphs are there?
Match each paragraph with the headings.
Step 4 Read for Language
Underline the quantity expressions in the survey report.
Step 5 Describe Graphs
Describe graphs based on Activities 3 and 4, and the data below. Please use proper quantity expressions.
