The alarm clock rang, and I reached over to turn it off. As I laid my face back down on the pillow (枕头) , I felt wet drool (口水) on my pillow case. I opened my eyes and saw a smiling face looking at me. I tried to get up, but she was too fast. My face was suddenly covered in kisses with one going straight up my nose and another right in my ear. I laughed, reached out and picked up the eight-pound love machine and held her away from my face. It was just another morning in a life with my dog.
Why do we welcome them into our homes and our hearts We know that we are most likely going to live longer than them and have our hearts broken when they age quickly and pass away after ten to fifteen years. We know that our ears will ring from the barking, that we will be picking up poop (大便) every single day and that we will never get to finish a full sandwich again. Yet, when we are feeling down or blue, there will always be a soft head on our lap needing to be petted. When we get home after a long day’s work, there will be a happy face at the door waiting for us, which will warm our hearts and lift our spirits.
For thousands of years, dogs have been our best friends. They remain one of the greatest gifts life has ever given us. Even if they can’t love us for the rest of our lives, they will always love us for all of their lives .

A . Dogs are devoted to their owners.
Life is never perfect without dogs.
Dogs’ owners can pet them forever.
It is troublesome to keep dogs at home.

In ancient times, our ancestors( 祖先) relied on stars to guide them on a clear night. Today, we have Beidou Navigation Satellite System (BDS) to help us find our way. The BDS, entirely built by Chinese engineers. With the launch (发射) of the last satellite from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center on June 23, the global network has been completed. On July 31, BDS started providing global services. It's difficult to imagine the great effect those satellites have on our daily lives.
When you are using shared bikes, you are using the BDS. The popular bike-sharing company came out with two new bike models this year. They are equipped with the positioning(定位) service. Users can find shared bikes more easily thanks to BDS.
BDS plays an important role when disasters occur and communications are blocked. An earthquake hit Wenchuan on May 12 in 2008, and all ground-based communication facilities (设施) were cut down. Though the first generation of Beidou could only send 120 characters in a single message at that time, communication between disaster areas and rescue centers was successful. Help Foreign Guests at Formal Dinner
The Spring Festival is coming. The traditional family banquet ( 宴会) is also coming. You probably have tried many different Chinese dishes. But do you really know how to behave properly at such an important meal 16 Don't worry if you are not sure, and here are some tips.
In the West, everyone has their own plate of food. 17 It is always polite to let guests or elder people at the table taste every dish first.
Don't put your chopsticks upright in the rice bowl. 18 The reason for this is that when people die, family members give them a bowl of rice with a pair of chopsticks sticking out. So if you stick your chopsticks in the rice bowl, it looks like you want someone at the table to die.
Make sure the spout (壶嘴) of the teapot is not facing anyone as this is impolite. The spout should always be directed to where nobody is sitting, usually just outward from the table
19 Beggars (乞丐) are usually seen tapping (轻敲) on their bowls with chopsticks in the street, so tapping on bowls is not polite, especially when you eat in a friend's home.
Although, teenagers are not supposed to drink any wine, you can still say “Ganbei” and drink to the health of your grandparents and parents. 20
A. It is sure to please them.
Instead, lay them on your dish.
Don’t tap on your bowl with your chopsticks.
Helping foreign guests at formal dinner is of great importance.
Could you explain Chinese polite table behaviors to a foreign visitor
Therefore, Chinese people use chopsticks rather than knives and forks.
However, in China, the dishes are placed on the table and everybody shares.

【答案】Hi Worried,
I’m sorry to know that you’re having such a bad time at the moment. The truth is everyone will have one of those periods when things seem to be wrong, so you don’t have to worry so much. The important thing is to learn to control your temper so that you may not do or say anything you’ll regret. Here are three useful tips:
First, talk to someone you trust about how you feel. This is a good way of letting your anger out without hurting others or yourself. Second, go outdoors and play team games with your friends,as physical exercise is an effective way to get rid of anger .And third, remain optimistic about your future. Such a positive attitude towards life can be helpful in lifting your spirits.
I hope you’ll soon feel calmer and carry on as normal.
Yours,
Jamie

On the day of the race, all the runners were wearing professional suits and shoes, except Raha. She stood on the lane, barefoot. However, she was not feeling ashamed because that was her way to run. "Come on, Raha, you can make it!" It was Thomas who was cheering for her. Suddenly, she felt more confident. At last, she won the first prize and brought honor to her school. From then on, she could not only concentrate on studying and running, but she also stayed happy in the new school.
