Dear Sir/Madam,
I’m so grateful for your good service during my stay in Thailand for a tour, but I’m writing to ask a favor to find and send back my pack, which I left in your hotel.
I checked in on July 1 and out on July 8. Setting off in a rush for the airport, I left the pack in Room 504. It’s a medium-sized, red leather backpack containing some traveling books, a white iPad of special edition, a credit card and some cash. All in the pack matter a lot to me, especially the iPad, a precious gift from my father on my 18th birthday. So much do I cherish it that I feel upset for its loss. If you find it, would you please post it to me The return address is on the envelop.
I would be more than grateful if you could give me your earliest reply and thank you for anything you can do for me.
Yours sincerely,
Li Hua

That was a moment of decision in my life. I remembered what my principal had told me. The boxing ring was where I belonged. I learned that boxing is a sweet science where I could use my brain as well as my strength and size. I used my ability to focus under pressure. I started training with the man who became my boxing coach and friend, and a father figure I looked up to. Under his guidance, I acquired a lot of boxing skills and techniques. I started to win. I went from being a street fighter to a professional boxer.
I worked hard as a professional and got what I wanted. Once I went professional, I continued working hard. Besides repeated training and practice, I engaged in a series of fights, striving to win every time. I was sometimes knocked down and got defeated, but I never gave up. Over time I gained almost all the titles a boxer could have. I also earned millions, but for me, it was not just about the money. I made my dreams come true. I won the respect of people and was even held up as a role model to youngsters. I finally became the man that my mum raised me to be!

M: I heard someone at the door. Who was that
W: It was Henry. He wanted to borrow some plates. He has some friends coming over for a party tonight.
M: I hope they won’t make too much noise.
Text 4
W: Will you use your car this afternoon, Mike

M: Well, you’d better prepare some warm sweaters and coats. Although it was so warm and sunny when I was in Ireland, it’s usually windy at this time of year.
W: OK. Thanks.
M: Anything else you want to know

M: Are you sure you’ve brought your purse here
W: Yes, I’m sure. It’s I who paid the bill for my friend. I couldn’t have done that if I hadn’t taken my purse.
M: So what’s the color of your purse
W: It’s a red silk one. And it’s quite new.
M: And what’s in your purse
W: There is a credit card, a used lipstick and some cash, three hundred dollars I guess.

W: Oh, that’s very kind of you. Thank you so much!
M: You’re welcome!
Text 10
My Best Friend is a book for young children. It’s mainly about a little girl named Lily. It’s summer, and Lily spends lots of time at the community pool, where she sees Tamika. Lily decides that Tamika will be her new best friend. But Tamika already has a best friend and no matter how hard Lily tries, she can’t seem to impress Tamika. The story tells about the difficulties of finding a friend.
My daughter Lisa and I read the book together. She said that she would give the book three stars. But I would give it just two stars. I especially did not like the topic. I think as a parent we should explain to our children that when someone is being mean and ignoring you, pushing harder will not make them like you more. We should also tell them that it’s OK to walk away from someone who is not showing true interest in being your friend. I wouldn’t recommend the book. But through writing the book, Mary Ann Rodman did open the doors for me to teach Lisa that some people are mean and that it’s OK to walk away from them and make new friends.
