Thousands of netizens watched the livestreaming (直播) room"Rabbit Sister Wang Yihan" while waiting for a link to the goods to be updated soon. Unlike others, this was quiet with only background music. The six-hour livestreaming received some 74,000 views, with the sales of goods over 700,000 yuan.
It was hosted by a hearing-impaired (受损的) couple, Yi Sixiong and Wang Xian. After many trials, using WeChat and a silent livestreaming room, gradually they have attracted over 350,000 online followers, mainly with hearing difficulties like them. With inborn hearing loss, Yi, 33, aims to build a platform for them.
Though WeChat has improved communication, many hearing impaired people often encounter online traps and suffer great loss, which is caused by the lack of channels(途径) to get information. That is why he decided to take up the business. On Feb 8, 2017, Yi created his first WeChat public account named "Daxiong's talk", which delivers news and real-time event information.
As e-commerce became more popular recently, Yi noticed that online shopping, however convenient for others, was not easy for people with hearing difficulties. In 2019, Yi decided to have a livestreaming room for his followers, selling products in sign language. Though not as lively as some other channels, his livestreaming enjoys popularity, and today receives 5,000 to 10,000 orders a month.
"They are not only my followers, but also friends who trust me," Yi says in sign language, adding that he would rather give up his earnings to find more products of good price for them. With the help of the Internet and technology, he wants to offer more services his followers need, such as communication, translation, employment training and matchmaking.

For many animals in the ocean, crabs are food. That's a problem for crabs. How can they stay off the dinner menu One type of crab, known as the decorator crab, has found a clever solution. It “decorates” itself. Decorator crabs use seaweed to change their appearances so that predators(捕食者)will not recognize them.
More than 100 species of decorator crabs are found all over the world. One species, commonly called the longnose spider crab, takes decorating to a whole new level. The ocean floor was covered in seaweed, but these crabs wouldn't use just any kind they found. “They were very, very picky, and things they pick were quite uncommon.” says Dr. Stachowicz of the University California.
He noticed that longnose spider crabs would grab a piece of seaweed and take a little bite. Sometimes they would just eat the seaweed. Other times, they would reach back and attach the piece to the small hairs on their back. These crabs were choosing to decorate themselves with seaweed that has a peppery-tasting(胡椒味)chemical in it. Most fish find this chemical unappetizing. “If the crabs just decorated to look like the background, they would be giving their predators a little side salad with the main course.” says Dr. Stachowicz. But by carefully choosing the peppery seaweed, these decorator crabs look less tasty and predators avoid them.
Once a longnose spider crab has put together a good suit to protect itself, it is set for a while. The seaweed continues to grow even while it's stuck to the crab's back. When a crab sheds(去除)its old shell, it has to redecorate, often using seaweed from its old shell. Basically, the crab recycles.
28. How do the longnose spider crabs differ from other decorator crabs
A. They like eating seaweed.
B. They pick seaweed carefully.
C. They have small hairs on their back.
D. They use any seaweed to decorate themselves.
29. What does the underlined word “unappetizing” in paragraph 3 probably mean
A. Unattractive. B. Unusual. C. Unhealthy. D. Unimportant.
30. What do we know about the longnose spider crabs from the text
A. They shed their old shells regularly.
B. The decoration on their shells lasts forever.
C. They prefer the seaweed that fish usually avoid.
D. They never redecorate themselves with new seaweed.
31. Which of the following can be the best title for the text
A. Survival Tips for the Crabs B. A Problem for Crabs
C. Ways to Decorate the Crabs D. A Crab’s Clever Clothes

The Sequoia National Park in California’s southern Sierra Nevada mountains is best known for the Giant Forest, a collection of 2,000 trees that includes half of the Earth’s largest and longest-living trees. This past weekend, the ancient wonders came dangerously close to being burned by the KNP Complex Fire. But thanks to resourceful firefighters, the precious treasure has been saved.
The fire personnel had taken the standard measures of clearing brush and setting controlled fires long before the fire began heading toward the Giant Forest. But they knew more needed to be done. On September 17, 2021, they took the unusual step of covering the base of some of the oldest trees with protective “blankets”. High on the list was General Sherman, the world’s largest tree by volume. The park officials believed the specialized foil (锡纸) would help block some of the heat from the flames and strengthen the natural insulation (隔热) provided by the ancient trees’ thick bark. They were right!
On Sunday, September 19, 2021, the officials reported that the extra prevention measures, which also included 24-hour timed sprinklers (洒水装置) on General Sherman and the nearby park buildings, had worked. Jack Owen, a spokesman for the KNP Complex Fire Information Office, said, “There are no trees that have been burned yet, as far as in the Giant Forest. Fire crews are pouring everything they can into it as long as it’s safe. That area is looking good.”
Unfortunately, the same cannot be said about the rest of the national park. The KNP Complex Fire has burned through 21,777 acres. Meanwhile, the Windy Fire, which started further south on the Sierra slopes on the same night, has burned over 21,598 acres. Hopefully, the weather will cooperate and allow firefighters to gain control of the massive fires, which are now beginning to threaten nearby communities.
32.What did the firefighters first do to protect the Giant Forest from fire
A. Identify the features of the complex fire. B.Set up a fire prevention belt around it.
C. Put it on the list of protective steps. D. Cover it with specialized foil.
33.Why was the specialized foil applied
A. To keep tree roots from losing water. B. To test the survival ability of the trees.
C. To resist some heat from the fire. D. To stop the fire from spreading.
34.What can we infer from paragraph 3
A.General Sherman is relatively safe.
B.Fire crews are ready to withdraw.
C.Nearby buildings have been abandoned.
D.Some trees in the Giant Forest have been cut down.
35.What is the author’s attitude towards the safety of the rest of the national park
A. Unconcerned. B. Optimistic. C. Discouraged. D. Worried.

Injuries are avoided.
After an intense workout, with tightened muscles, your body is more likely to suffer tearing of muscle tissues. However, during stretching, the muscles are lengthened, which means the risk is way less. 39 . So save your body from being an easy target for injuries.
While stretching, don’t push yourself too hard. Remember, this is meant to relax you, not to cause additional pressure on you. You may be tempted to rest immediately after a workout session. But trust us: the post-exercise stretching is of critical importance. 40 . But in due time, you will.

Weeks before Thanksgiving arrived, my anxiety about it increased. My husband and I recently made a cross country move with our young child Jill. Our neighbor was an old couple, Mr. Smith and Mrs. Smith, who were kind and friendly.
Our new home was in a mess. “We should start thinking about plans for Thanksgiving,” I suggested. “Don’t worry about it,” my husband said. “Heat up some hot dogs, maybe some cheese, and the kid will be happy.” That sounded great. I was in a relief!
In the past holidays, I had never been responsible for cooking a full Thanksgiving dinner. My job was always to bring drinks or a side dish to a large gathering (items that had the highest success rate) and help clean up after the meal.
But one day my son Jill happily showed newly created turkey crafts. “Let’s go on a walk and try to find a rock that looks like turkey!” Jill shouted to me. “Take me on a walk, Mommy!” The excitement was building, and I had a feeling that hot dogs were not going to be enough for my child on Thanksgiving.
“I’m going to try and prepare Thanksgiving food, Leonard,” I said to my husband late one night. He eyed me curiously. “You sure ” Then he said. “Okay, then, if you think you can do it.” I said. “I’ve got two days to prepare. The grocery store is open twenty four hours. I’m going to the store!”
Unfortunately, only a huge turkey remained, so I had no choice but to buy a thirty pound turkey. Early Thanksgiving morning, I dragged(拖拽) the bagged turkey home. When my family saw it, they got a big surprise at its size. Seeing the surprise on their faces, I realized there was no way we could finish the turkey. It’s too big for my family. “There was only one turkey left in the store.” I explained. “But how could we finish the turkey ” I asked my husband and Jill.

Dear Jack,
Learning that you’re curious about the Dragon Boat Festival of China, I’m extremely happy to introduce it to you.
The Dragon Boat Festival falls on the fifth day of the fifth lunar month. It’s widely accepted that the festival is celebrated in memory of Qu Yuan, an honorable poet and statesman in Ancient China. Traditionally, dragon boat races are held, attracting hundreds of people to watch and cheer. The most representative food for this festival is Zongzi, also known as rice dumplings, which is made with rice wrapped in a special long leaf.
Dragon Boat Festival Celebrations in China are festive and unique, which is well worth experiencing by yourself. If you’d like to know any more, do feel free to let me know.
Yours,

第二节(满分25分)
Jill said we could invite our neighbor, Mr. and Mrs. Smith, to share with us. “I found the old couple were very lonely. No one has paid a visit to them since we moved here. Besides, I didn’t see them buy anything for Thanksgiving.” Jill told us sadly. Knowing that, we reached the agreement on inviting the couple. Jill was responsible for the invitation and my husband and I were in charge of dinner. We spent hours cooking in the kitchen, hoping to offer our neighbors an unforgettable dinner.
Soon, Mr. and Mrs. Smith came to my house with a big smile on their faces. They greeted us and we made an introduction to each other. Seeing my husband and I were clumsy(笨拙的) at preparing dinner, the couple offered to give us a hand. With the help of them, a fancy dinner was done in no time. Obviously Mrs. Smith had a great talent for cooking. As a special treat, I laid out a beautiful red table cloth, candles and our best china. We gathered around the table, eating delicious Thanksgiving dinner and making a promise to spend Christmas together.
