Activity1 Listen and find out who collects the things in the pictures
Activity2 Answer the questions.
The dialogue is directly related to the title and topic of this unit as it shows some pictures about things children and parents like collecting. Ss are able to do some brainstorming and then learn some new words. From listening and matching, they can understand that the things to collect depends on one’s hobby, age, experience and so on. It also arouses Ss’ thinking about the cost and space and other influence.
Analysis of Material
The dialogue is mainly about Betty and Tony visiting Lingling’s home. They enjoy Lingling’s fan collection and then discuss about their hobbies. The three students all talked about their common hobby -- collecting, but their collections are different: Lingling collects fans, Betty coins and stamps, Tony tickets. Finally, the three students discussed the meaning of collecting -- not for the value of objects, but for the memory they bring to people. The content of the dialogue answers the questions of what,where,why and so on, which is ready for the language output.
