Unit 5 Ann is taller than Mocky教学设计
教学目标
1.知识目标:学生能够结合主题图,读懂有关表达身高、体重的句子( How tall am I How much do I weigh You are 147 centimeters tall. You are the tallest),能够初步理解故事的意思。
2.能力目标:
听:听课文的录音后,能够基本抓住故事的大概意思,获取人物的身高、体重等信息。
说:能够根据图画、人物对话和课文下的提示语言,在老师的帮助启发下,复述故事的主要内容。
读:能够初步读懂课文,做到边读边理解。
3.情感目标:
1.引导学生关注自己的身高、体重等健康因素,形成良好的生活习惯。
2.在小组内分工、合作,主动表达,共同学习。
学时重点
有90%的学生喜欢学习故事教学的内容,学生认为这部分知识创设了学习英语的真实情景,而且故事内容非常有趣。学生们喜欢在课上模仿录音的朗读,体验英语学习的乐趣。但是有将近一半的学生在“讲故事”这个环节有一定的困难,缺乏足够的信心和语言的积累。
学时难点
学生能够结合主题图,读懂有关表达身高、体重的句子( How tall am I How much do I weigh You are 147 centimeters tall. You are the tallest),能够初步理解故事的意思。能够根据图画、人物对话和课文下的提示语言,在老师的帮助启发下,复述故事的主要内容
教学活动
【导入】I am taller
一、从生活入手,自然导入故事
1.以学生们熟悉的奥运冠军的身高、体重导入
T:This is a picture of Olympic champions .Do you know them
(教师出示一张关于奥运冠军的图片)
S1: This is Du Li
S2: This is Wang Yifu (同学们纷纷指出自己熟悉的冠军)

T: Do you know their height and weight, Let’s listen!(教师放录音)
(教师发给每位同学一张表,让学生听录音,并填写听到的数字,此环节的目的是训练对数字的表达)

2. 交流自己获取的信息
1)初步感知身高体重的表达:(听运动员身高、体重的英文介绍,学生会听到5遍centimeter,5遍kilogram,初步感知了新单词。)
2)在交流中掌握发音“centimeter” and “kilogram” 并掌握这两个词的简写形式。

centimeter---cm kilogram-----kg
3)激趣导入
T: How tall am I How much do I weigh Everyone wants to know that. One day, Ken, Mocky and Ann went to the town center to check their height and weight.
【设计意图】:在课的开始部分出示奥运冠军的图片,然后从录音中听到对于他们的简单介绍,学生非常感兴趣,并初步感知如何表达人物的身高体重,并呈现了新单词centimeter 和kilogram; height and weight
二、呈现故事,理解人物语言。
(一)、整体感知故事,获取基本信息
1.引导过渡:
T:Do you know how tall is Mocky , How much does Mocky weigh let’s check them. What is the meaning “check”( 教师用简笔画画出量身高的尺子,帮助学生理解“check” 在语境中的意思。然后再画一个体重秤,What’s the meaning” check” ,让学生在语境中了解意思,引导学生灵活运用“check”一词)
版画:米尺和体重秤,并板书重点单词check, height and weight
2.听全文,从整体上感知故事的主要内容。
T: Let’s check their height and weight.(播放课文的录音)
让学生在表格中选择正确的答案。(训练学生抓住故事主要信息的能力)

1)发给学生表格。
2)完整的听故事一遍,并把听到的信息用笔圈出来,大概了解故事的主要内容。
3)核对答案。
【设计意图】:此环节为整体感知故事阶段,通过听完整的故事内容,知道故事发生的时间,地点,能够准确地找到每个人的身高和体重,初步感知课文)
(二)分块多元体验故事,分块复述内容
1.学习第一部分:picture 1
T: look at picture 1 ,and answer the questions.
1)What can you see Where were they ( town center)
T: What do you know from this picture (They want to check their height and weight )
2.学习第二部分:逐图学习picture2, picture3and picture5
1)看课件并跟着摹仿读原文的句子。( 大量原录音声音的输入并跟读,在读英语中获取信息,为学生感知理解故事内容和感受语言做量上的积累,给足时间)
教师播放,学生跟读。
自己自由读。思考:How tall is Mocky What about Ann and Ken
学生们的答案:
S: Mocky is 85 centimeters tall.(教师随机在版画的直尺上标出刻度)
S: Ann is 135 centimeters tall. (教师随机在版画的直尺上标出刻度)
S: Ken is 147 centimeters tall. (教师随机在版画的直尺上标出刻度)
(此时板书:每个人的身高。以上是最基础的直接信息,并不难。学生都能获取,为此要给后进生充分的发言机会)
T: Who is taller, Mocky or Ann
S: Ann is taller than Mocky.
T: Who is taller Ann or Ken
S: Ken is taller than Ann.
T: Who is the tallest
Who is the shortest
(这是理解的第二个层次,好学生能够表达出来,中等以下的孩子需要老师的引导和帮助。这也是本课的句型重点,学生体会比较级,最高级的用法)
T: Can you retell the three pictures  You can try :
(同学们可能复述有困难,为此提供语言的支持和图画的支持)

【设计意图】:此环节教师将三幅表达身高的图画放在一起学习,让学生充分的感知如何表达身高,为学生顺利、流畅的表达做好铺垫。此环节的内容就是课文的文字叙述的一部分。
3.学习第三部分:逐图学习 picture 6 and 7
T:Now they know their height, they are very happy. How much do they weigh?
1)听课文的原录音
2)学生自由读,体会语言,理解意思。
Weigh: /wei/
3)what do you know from the picture (check their weight)
T: How much did Ken weigh  Who was heavier (初步知道heavier 的发音和意思,不讲解比较级的变化规律) How much did Ann weigh
S: Ken was 33 kilograms.(教师随机在体重秤上标出体重)
Ann was 35 kilograms.
4)教师把答案放在大屏幕上,并和同学一起比较,找同学读一读。(进一步熟悉句型并体会意思,加深理解)
[文本框:   Height  Ann is 135 centimeters tall. Ken is 147 centimeters tall.  Ann is shorter than Ken. Weight Ken was 33 kilograms. Ann was 35 kilograms. Ann is heavier than Ken ]
T:Ann is shorter than Ken. Ann is heavier than Ken. Boys and girls ,from the story ,can you feel something wrong Do you know why ( 让同学们充分的设想,发挥想象力)
(让同学们在小组内,充分的讨论,为什么Ann 又矮又重。Ken 又高又轻)
S1: Maybe Ann is fat.
S2: Maybe the scale doesn’t work.
S3:Maybe they can’t scale correctly.
【设计意图】:此环节教师引导学生发现ken和Ann的身高和体重有些奇怪,并充分激发他们合理的想象,猜测出现这种情况的原因。此环节为学生思考、表达创设了空间。
4.学习第四部分:picture8 and 9 .
1)T: What do you know from the picture
Something was wrong . Ann was shorter but _______
(这一点学生用自己的语言表达可能很有困难,所以教师给以一定语言支持。)
2)把picture7and picture9放在一起请学生认真观察,然后得出答案。
3)Mocky put his foot on the scale.“scale”/skeil/ (教师在版画上画Mocky的脚)
T:What a funny Mocky!
4)请学生齐读What a funny Mocky! 指导学生朗读“Oh, Mocky!”
5)Can you guess Ken’s real weight (请学生选择)
Can you guess How heavy (重)is Ann

【设计意图】:此环节激发学生英语学习的乐趣,促使学生思考,激发学生合理的想象能力,并激发学生的自主表达。
三、内化课文,拓展提高
1.看图读课文,理解课文语言。
2.分角色朗读课文。(分小组)
3.听故事:听课文的叙述部分(出现文字)
4.根据故事内容填空。(故事的主体内容)

5. 加开头和结尾。
请同学们分成小组,用英语给故事加一个开头和一个结尾。充分发挥学生的想象能力和语言表达能力,调动学生的语言。
(同学们的讨论的结果:
Beginning : (1)On Sunday, Ann and her friends went to the shopping mall.
(2)In summer holiday, Ann , Ken and Mocky went to the town center.
(3)After lunch, Ann and her friends want to check their height and weight.
(4)In a sunny day, Ann and her friends are very happy, they go to the supermarket to buy something.
Ending: (1)Mocky had his foot on the scales.
(2)Mocky put his bag on the scales.
(3) Maybe Ann is fat.
6.鼓励学生用自己的语言复述故事。
T:Can you retell the story with your own words.

【设计意图】此环节在学生自愿的基础上,练习用英语表达自己的身高体重,教师给与适当的评价,激发学生健康生活的理念,保持适当的身高、体重的比例。
四、自主作业:
1.把故事讲给家长听。
2.了解五年级学生身高、体重的标准。了解家人的身高、体重,讨论如何保持健康。
