Presenter: Adam is in the studio with us, and he’s going to tell us about his year between the end of school and the start of university. Adam, tell us where you went, and what you did there.
Adam: I went to Ghana, in Africa. Our main project was building a primary school, because there wasn’t a school in the village, and the children were studying outside.
Presenter: Was the experience everything you expected
Adam: Yes, in fact it was more than I expected. I felt very proud to be part of the project. We were helping children to have a good education.
Presenter: What was your favourite thing about Ghana
Adam: The people are very friendly. My friendship with some of them will last forever. I’m sure of that.
Presenter: How did you spend your free time
Adam: At weekends, we visited the beaches. The beaches were lovely, and most of the time empty too. Very relaxing.
Presenter: What did you miss most while you were away
Adam: I missed my friends and family most.
Presenter: Have you found what you want to do with the rest of your life
Adam: The answer is no, but I have discovered what I don’t want to do! I thought I wanted to be an actor. Now I know that I want to help people. I’ve decided to go to college and maybe become a teacher in the future.
Presenter: So your experience really did change your life!
Adam: Yes, it did!

Mark Smith is a student at a vocational school—a school where people learn how to do many of the jobs that are needed in modern society.
“After I finished secondary school, my results showed that I was better at doing things than at reading books. Junior high school dances
In the US, students often have a school dance to celebrate the end of junior high. There is usually a student committee which organises the dance. They decorate the school gym with balloons, lights and other things so that it looks very nice. They plan the music and organise the food. Sometimes the parents help make the food and sometimes it comes from a restaurant. The girls usually wear pretty dresses and the boys wear smart clothes. They eat, dance and sometimes have competitions. The dance is usually supervised by teachers and parents.

“疑问词+动词不定式”结构中,how 是疑问副词,应该用how to do sth. 表达;what 是疑问代词,应该用what to do 表达。
疑问代词what/who/which 等和疑问副词when/how/where 等后接动词不定式结构在句中可作主语、宾语、表语等。

宾语从句的用法:
宾语从句请注意,陈述语序要牢记。
陈述句子用that,一般疑问句是否(whether, if)替。
特殊疑问更简单,引导就用疑问词。
宾语从句的引导词、语序和时态
【重点】宾语从句的引导词: that, if/whether 和疑问词

that that 引导的宾语从句表示陈述意义, that 在从句中不作任何成分, 也无意义, 一般可以省略。
if/whether 当由一般疑问句充当宾语从句时, 用if/whether 引导。if 常用于口语, whether 常用于正式文体中, 两者一般情况下可以互换, 但是, 当与or not 连用时, 用whether。
疑问词 当宾语从句是由特殊疑问句转化而来时, 要用what, when, where, why, how 等疑问词来引导。

【高频】宾语从句的时态
宾语从句的时态由主句来确定, 主句用一般现在时, 从句可以用任何时态;主句用一般过去时, 从句需用对应的某种过去时态。
注意:当从句表示客观真理、自然现象等时用一般现在时, 不受主句时态的限制。
