first of all意为“首先；第一”，位于句首表示顺序，是一系列顺序的开始，后面往往接next, then, at last等。

拓展：at first也有“首先”之意，但它只能用于表示一段时间，常与稍后的一段时间作比较。相当于to start /begin with和in the beginning。
