The Most Incredible Stadiums (体育场) in North America
If you are a big fan of massive stadiums and are unaware of where these beautiful stadiums are located, here is a list of four largest stadiums in North America.
Michigan Stadium
Would you be surprised to know that the second largest stadium in the world is a college football stadium That’s right. Michigan Stadium, home of the Michigan Wolverines, is the largest stadium in the United States and the second largest stadium in the world. It has a capacity of 107, 601. When you see Michigan Stadium, you know you're talking about college football.

Maybe it’s not the nicest, but it is a must-visit stadium in Mexico. Lying in the suburbs of Mexico City, it is the stadium that hosts the national soccer game in Mexico. When the 1970 World Cup was there, it hosted 10 matches, including the semi-final, and the final between Brazil and Italy. Estadio Azteca is the largest stadium in Mexico, with a capacity of 84,000.
Madison Square Garden
Madison Square Garden is one of the best stadiums in North America, and not just for sports, but for concerts and other events as well. Power walking, also referred to as speed walking, is an aerobic (有氧的) activity that can be done just about anywhere or anytime. An individual who participates in the activity travels at a pace that is faster than walking but slower than jogging.
A proper technique for power walking includes taking small but quick pace and landing on the heels, with toes aimed at a 45-degree angle from the ground. Speed is produced by flexibility (柔韧性), not long pace. With each step, the walker rolls his or her feet forward and thrusts (猛推) from the toes to start a new step. This thrust gives a walker more force and power. With each step, the walker keeps his or her arms bent at a 90-degree angle while keeping a closed fist and making a curved move from the waist to the chest. The walker repeats the move while allowing his or her arms to swing, which helps to keep a light pace and uses more calories.
The activity provides many benefits for walkers. Power walking helps build up muscles and burn calories. It can also help to control an individual’s weight and can enhance the immune system. It improves physical fitness, which may help lower the risk of injury; it also lowers stress levels, and can help provide a comfortable night's sleep. Power walking can also improve the cardiovascular (心血管的) system.
Before beginning the activity, an individual should check with his or her doctor. A walker should also make sure he or she has comfortable fitting shoes before engaging in walking. Shoes that are light and flexible can prevent soreness and tingling (刺痛) in the feet and toes. A beginner will often walk up to 30 minutes, while a person more advanced in the technique can engage in the activity for up to an hour.

[辽宁沈阳五校协作体2022高一期中联考] A
Physical education, or PE, isn’t required for all high school students. In some schools, it isn’t offered for some different reasons. But should high school students have physical education The answer is certainly “yes”.
Today many people don’t do sports. But as is known to all, doing sports is very important for an adult. Teaching teens the importance of a healthy lifestyle and making fitness plans now can help teens put exercise in the first place as an adult.
High school isn’t that easy. Many students are under a lot of stress. Stress can be harmful to a student’s studies and life. Doing sports can help them deal with stress better, helping them live a happier life at school.
The American Heart Association says that 10 million kids and teens suffer from obesity (肥胖症). Teens should get 60 minutes of physical activity per day to control their weight and to help their bones get stronger. The increase in activities that don’t get teens to move around, such as video games and computer activities means many teens don’t get their required exercise. PE classes act as a public health measure to encourage physical activities and help teens maintain a healthy weight.
Not doing sports increases teens’ risk of developing many diseases. An active lifestyle offers a good way of protection from these health problems. As much as 75% of health-care spending goes towards treating medical conditions that can be forestalled by lifestyle changes, according to the American College of Sports Medicine.
According to the President’s Council on Sports, Fitness and Nutrition (PCSFN), students who performed five hours of physical activity each week improved their academic performance. Students from programmes with no physical activity, who used the extra time for classroom study, did not perform better on tests than those who gave up some study time in support of physical education.

At the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, you might notice this scene at the beginning of each game: As the soccer players lined up ready to walk onto the field, they took the hand of a smiling and excited child next to them and walked out with them hand in hand.
The practice of sending children out with the players first took place from time to time throughout the 1990s. One child, also called a player escort, would accompany a team out at the beginning of an important game. From the year 2000 onwards, this custom started happening much more regularly. The Euro 2000 Championships was one of the first major soccer tournaments (锦标赛) where children were seen walking out with the players. But it was the 2002 FIFA World Cup where it really became popular. At this tournament, children were intentionally promoted at games. One of the most prominent ways this happened was by pairing up each player with a child as they walked out onto the soccer field. From then on, it has become commonplace around the world for children to walk out with the players.
Ultimately soccer players walk out with a child because their club requires them to. It is in the interest of the soccer club to do this as it has potential benefits for both the child and the honour of the club. Soccer is a game that is loved by children throughout the world. Many would jump at the chance to have a taste of a real game in person. It’s also a chance for soccer clubs to make money. Most clubs have some sort of programme where it’s possible to buy the experience of being a player escort. In England, it can be extremely expensive. A few years ago it was reported that some clubs were charging almost?$800 per child to be a player escort!

The British show has always been popular, but children have been exposed to it more since the pandemic(流行病)broke out, when parents desperate to keep their children occupied while working and attending online meetings relied more heavily on Peppa Pig as a babysitter.
According to The Wall Street Journal, one California mother recalled her child speaking to her with a British accent and asking, “Mummy, are you going to the optician’s(眼镜店) ” During the lockdown, her child had watched numerous episodes of the hit children’s show, which is now regularly topping global viewing rankings.
Dominique Parr, a parent, shared a TikTok video of her 3-year-old daughter Hazel repeating lines from the show. The video went viral, receiving over 10 million views and support from parents whose children were adopting a similar accent.
According to Parrot Analytics Ltd, Peppa Pig is one of the world’s most popular cartoons, ranking second on their charts, just behind SpongeBob SquarePants.

[甘肃张掖2022高一期末] 阅读下面材料,根据其内容和所给段落开头语续写两段,使之构成一篇完整的短文。
I first played ping-pong in our basement (地下室) at home. My elder brother and I asked for an old wooden table from my grandfather. It was painted green. Although it was very simple, it served its purpose and we played on it every day. My father never really played any other sports with me, but ping-pong was one that he played quite well and it took me plenty of time before I could beat him. My elder brother was also a very good competitor.
When I got to university, I was happy to discover a ping-pong table in the common room. I spent a great deal of time there, often until the midnight. There were about three or four friends that I often played against. We were all at the same skill level. One of them had ever played in a tournament. A friend from Germany said his father had ever won the German national tournament. We took part in a tournament. My ranking (名次) was the third place, but I had beaten the first and second place winners when we had played for fun. I sometimes played with other friends who didn’t play ping-pong well, so I would use my left hand to give them an advantage. But before long I became so skilled with my left hand that they no longer had the advantage.
Later, I played in a ping-pong competition which was held by my university. I lost the competition at first. But because it was double elimination (双淘汰制), I went to the loser group. I beat all the players and then played against the student who had beaten me in the first round. Surprisingly, I beat him 3 times and won the competition.
注意:续写词数应为150左右。
Later, there was a tournament held in the city where I studied.

Later, there was a tournament held in the city where I studied. It was a tournament for university students. Players came from all the northern universities. I felt very proud because I took part in it on behalf of my university. I believed that I could play pretty well. I expected to get a good ranking in the tournament. But in fact, I felt very nervous, because I played against a student who had won many times. I played very hard and tried my best. Although I lost the tournament, it was good practice.
After the tournament, I didn’t often do sport because of the busy study. But I played ping-pong with my friends when I was free. I thought it was a great deal of fun playing ping-pong with friends. It was also a good way to make our friendship closer and keep us healthier. We sometimes took part in a competition together, but we didn’t care about winning or not. We all knew that a win was not everything. We just enjoyed playing together and had a wonderful time.
