Analysis of teaching material What: It is organized under the topic on buying clothes, which belongs to the subject human and society. Why: Help students master the communication when buying clothes, such as asking the price, color, size and style of clothes. Besides, it will enable students to understand the service spirit of the service industry. How: There are many dialogues between the seller and customer. “How much is/are... ” and “It’s.../They are... dollars.” are frequently used in these dialogues. So do the words about color, size and style of clothes. Polite language is also used in the dialogue.
Teaching objectives By the end of the lesson, most students will be able to: 1. remember the words about style, size and color of clothes and describe the clothes by using them. 2. apply sentence structures" How much is/are... " "It’s.../They are... dollars." and polite language when buying clothes. 3. evaluate whether the seller has a good service spirit and whether the store is a good choice (students can give their reasons).

Help students learn to make tasks that they will have in class clear. Lead-in 1. Introduce a clothing store business game to students. In this game students will be asked to act as a job seeker, complete three exams, and then formally take up their positions. 2. Ask students to talk about the abilities a seller should have. 3. Start the game, and make the tasks in this lesson clear. Arouse students’ interest by using business games students are familiar with and enjoy.
Help students remember the words about style, size and color of clothes and describe the clothes by using them. Exam One: Memory and Recognition 1. Ask students from what aspects they will describe the clothes to the seller when they buy clothes. 2. Ask students to work in pairs to say the style of clothes according to pictures given and guide them to find the rule of singular and plural. 3. Finish 1a——match the words with the things in the picture. 4. Ask students to work in pairs to say the size and color of clothes according to pictures given. In the Exam One, students will learn how to describe a clothes, prepared for the listening and speaking tasks. Guide students learn one quality of a seller: be familiar with the clothes and their price in the store.

Exam Two: Communication Listen to the conversations and circle the things they hear. Listen again and fill in the price. Ask and answer question in pairs, using pattern like “A: I like these shorts. In Exam Two, students consolidate what learned by listening. Guide students to learn one quality of a seller: be able to get the information of customers’ needs and give them advice.

Ask students which seller they prefer and why. 2.Teach students how to have a polite conversation when they buy and sell clothes, and then ask them to have a pair work to practice.
In Exam Three, guide students to learn one quality of a seller: to be polite to give customers a warm and thoughtful service.
Help students evaluate whether the seller has a good service spirit and whether the store is a good choice. Formal Appointment (Role play) Work in groups of three. One student plays the role of the seller, and the other two play the role of customers. Evaluate which group’s store is the best choice and tell why. Summary Ask students to discuss in groups of four to talk about What qualities or abilities are needed to be a good seller.
