Go For It 7A Unit 9 Section A 1a-2c
Analysis of teaching material What: The listening material is a daily conversation for junior high school students and is based on how students feel on their first day at school. The two students, Linda and Anna, both say they like school because they are happy to see all their friends at school and the school classes are great. And they also asked each other about their favourite classes. Why:The text aims to help students describe their lives at school like school subjects and personal feelings in English and compare foreign students’ preferences towards subjects to theirs. By describing Linda and Anna’s love of school life, the author helps students foster a love of school life and have emotional resonance. How: This dialogue is typical of students’ daily school life, involving the vocabulary: subject, favorite, science, art, math, music and the core language used in their daily school life, “What’s your favorite subject ” Through asking and answering, students can clarify their preferences towards subjects. Reflection Teachers should focus more on students’ performance and let students speak more. The class should be students-centered. And teachers should play the role of helper not the leader. Teachers should put more mechanical training for students to master the basic knowledge and then gradually increase the difficulty. We should first determine the teaching objectives according to my understanding and not rely to much on the textbook design, we can make some adjustments and supplements of the teaching material. And our teaching design should be closely related to our teaching objectives. Evaluations and feedback from the students is also important. We should make some adjustments according to students’ performance in class. And also let students do some practice in class to check their knowledge timely.
