(Day4 说明文2篇)
How to Stop Life Getting You Down
There’s a saying—“If you and everyone else threw your problems onto the pile, you’d take yours back immediately once you saw everyone else’s”. 1 Others are probably dealing with their own problems just like you. So when things start to get you down, how can you pick yourself back up
2 If you’re struggling or feeling down, always remember that you don’t have to be alone. You don’t need to be on your own, either. 3 If you don’t feel able to talk to your parents or your sisters, you’ll find support groups that can provide you with ideas or at least listen to you. You’ll also find that social media sites can provide opportunities to connect and ask for help.
Try out a new hobby. Hobbies don’t just fill time; they also help to give you a sense of purpose. Try out a new sport, learn to dance or perhaps join a chess club. Many hobbies also provide opportunities for social interaction. 4
Appreciate little things. Those that have bounced back from a serious illness often state that they’ve been given a new chance of life and that they wake each morning grateful just to be waking up. 5 Go out for dinner and make efforts to truly appreciate your meal or lie back on your bed, surrounded by total silence, and simply focus on how it feels to breathe and to relax. If you can’t focus on the silence, you can instead choose background noise.
A.Reach out.
B.Turn to your family.
C.Friends will be willing to help you.
D.Bad experiences are part of life for us all.
E.Getting rid of our bad emotion takes a lot of time.
F.Making new friends and talking with them will raise your spirits.
G.A new attitude to ordinary life can make you feel more positive.
Learning something new every day has many benefits. Rather than filling your brain with information all at once, try taking it slow.
Find your interests. Don’t think of increasing your knowledge as a big task. Keep it fun by considering what you would want to learn new information about. 6 You may also get distracted (分心的) and lose motivation during your learning time.
7 If you find it difficult to learn new information, take some time to think about what learning style works best for you. To determine your preferred way of learning, try a few different methods and see which one keeps you learning for the longest period of time without getting distracted.
Use available (可得到的) resources. A few accessible ways to get new information are to set aside some time daily to read books, listen to a podcast, or watch YouTube videos on your topic of interest. 8 As you unlock them, you can see which one you use regularly. You can listen to podcasts while driving and learn Spanish while working out.
Try multitasking (多任务化). The time you set aside to exercise or do washing doesn’t have to take the place of learning something new. 9 You can listen to a podcast while you fold clothes or watch an online video while you’re getting ready for bed. This can almost make your brain think it is doing something fun.
Turn to your connections. 10 They are also a valuable resource when it comes to learning new information. This can be as simple as asking your friends what books they’ve read lately or if they’ve recently watched an interesting documentary.
A.Discover your learning style.
B.Add new information to your old knowledge.
C.An uninteresting topic can make you get bored.
D.They are useful tools to help you get new information regularly.
E.These are things that increase your overall sense of happiness.
F.Instead, try putting the two into one part of your day.
G.People around you are adding to their knowledge daily just like you.

Do Actions Speak Louder than Words
Our society is fast paced. We are all rushing from one place to the next, blowing our horn at slow drivers who may be singing songs in the car with their children or pointing out some interesting sights. We don't have time for that silliness today. But we try to say to ourselves that we will make time for fun tomorrow. It is time to take a few deep breaths and think about our actions and our words. 11
Have you ever really thought about the saying “Actions speak louder than words” Think about it now. If you say one thing and act in an opposite way, will the words be ignored and just the actions remembered I don’t think so. 12 It is also equally important to use words to show appreciation, love, approval and happiness and then follow those words with a hug, pat on the back or smile.
13 What about that saying True Yes! Words carry a lot of weight and will be remembered for years especially when they are written down. Mean words can hurt for that moment and for a lifetime. I am sure that each of us remembers a time when a friend made an unkind comment. 14 Let’s not be a member of that “club”. When was the last time that you hid a love note in a lunch box or in your mate’s coat pocket If you want to see a bright smile, that will do it! The power of this written note will be remembered for many days, even years.
“I can live for two months on a good compliment(夸奖)”, said Mark Twain. Children grow stronger when they feel appreciated and understood. 15 A perfect way to turn a bad day around is to praise your child. “I noticed that your hair looked very nice today.” “Did you hang your coat up all by yourself ” It is amazing how those few words can change a child's outlook... almost immediately. Don’t stop there... One of my sisters ended a phone conversation with three words -“I love you”! Boy, that put a spring in my step! Mark Twain is right. I still feel the positive effect of those three little but very powerful words.
A.The pen is more powerful than the sword.
B.Is it really reasonable to do something like that
C.Do they display the attitude that we want to convey
D.It is important to have your words match your actions.
E.Behavior is a mirror in which everyone shows his image.
F.Those words did lasting damage to you, the relationship or both.
G.Don’t be afraid to shower your child with encouraging words all day long.
Some high school students think it useless to receive higher education. 16 If you’re one of them, think again. Here are some reasons why you should go to college and receive a good education there.
17 We take that knowledge later on to build our careers after graduation. More knowledge will be gained after you start working, but without education, that job will not be within easy reach. Knowledge leads to knowledge.
While limited within the walls of the educational places, we openly explore other cultures of the world! 18 Other cultures have valuable things to share, enriching our own. Education also makes us want to travel and exchange with various cultures, getting more experience.
When there’s a recession (衰退) in the economy, those who attended college will be more likely to find a new job than those who only finished high school and have a limited skill set. The more education you have, the more chances you will get to improve the quality of your life as you have a better job and earn a higher salary.
When you’re skillful and knowledgeable, you gain access to people of similar backgrounds and tastes. 19 Good networking can benefit you a lot in your later life.
20 You can talk about ideas and events instead of just other people and what’s on sale in stores. An educated person doesn’t gossip (说闲话), having a preference to discuss ideas and listen to what other people have to say.
A.Therefore, they choose not to go to college.
B.We come to know that ours is not the only culture.
C.There is a negative side to earning a good education too.
D.A good education makes you a more interesting person.
E.It means a good education leads to excellent networking.
F.Schools and universities are the first places to get knowledge.
G.It has long been understood that an education can lead to long-term financial success.
(Day6记叙文2篇)
When I read that we spend almost three hours every day checking our smartphones, I was shocked. What was I missing in the real world when walking down the street, lost in a virtual world of social media updates and videos of dogs on bicycles I promised myself I would use my smartphone less, but it didn’t happen. Then one day my phone died and I had to wait a week for a new one. 21 I thought it would be hard, but in fact it was quite easy—and surprising in a good way for a number of reasons!
The first consequence was quite amazing—On the first day in the office without my phone, I was thinking more deeply and concentrating more. I rediscovered my brain! 22 Another consequence was that I actually talked to people more and felt more connected to them. I realized I was being more responsive to their news and sympathetic to their problems because I wasn’t constantly checking my phone. 23 Their kindness made me feel welcome, and I discovered my brain has very good GPS!
At the very beginning, I was worried that I would be bored without my phone, but actually I enjoyed it—I’d forgotten how much I love books and newspapers. 24 And I also sensed that I slept so much better and felt more awake in the morning.
At times it was inconvenient to have no mobile internet connection, but all in all, there were a lot of benefits from not being connected 24/7. So, if you think you use your smartphone too much, put it away for a few days and see what happens. 25
A.Would I survive
B.What’s the problem
C.You never know, you may become smarter!
D.Without a phone at hand I was more productive.
E.Reading everyday made me feel a lot more special.
F.I’m a lot more careful about how much I use it now.
G.Another day I was in a new city and I asked people for directions.
An Aurora (极光) Adventure in Norway
Beyond the cottage windows the world is white and still. Snow-covered mountains stretch to the sea. It’s only 2 p.m., but already the light is fading, bathing the scene in a mysterious blue.
26 But instead of joining an organized and pricey aurora trip with a tour guide, I’m here on a DIY long weekend with friends.
We rented a riverside house in the tiny fishing village of Oldervik. 27 So we go back to the comfort of indoor space. The silence here is so complete that we can hear the gentle sound of snow falling from the roof.
Exciting activities, such as dog sledding and reindeer adventures, are easy to arrange. 28 But the striking beauty of the landscape and the sense of life being lived in slow motion, make us just want to stop for a while.
At Oldervik, it’s possible to catch the aurora anytime from September to April. The best time is from mid-November to mid-January, when the sun never appears. With cloudy skies we have no luck so far but on our last night, at the first sign of clouds clearing, we got into the car and hadn’t driven far when, with great excitement, we spotted a strange glowing arc (弧形) crossing the road like a milky rainbow. 29
And then it begins: beams of greeny-white light dance as if from spotlights on the ground. To the naked eye (肉眼), the lights are not the bright greens and blues cameras capture on long exposures, but it’s fascinating none the less. The temperature during this time has fallen to –10℃ 30 .
A.Sleep is effortless in this quiet land.
B.So are northern light excursions.
C.There’s little light pollution here, but the night is cloudy and a little cold.
D.When we hike south along the river, the moon hangs above the peaks in the sky.
E.It’s the appeal of the Arctic winter that has brought me to the very north of Norway in January.
F.The stars are against the blackest of skies, with white mountains on both sides glowing under a small piece of the moon.
G. but we don’t feel it as we lie on the ground, gazing up and never wanting to leave
