How to take the train in Switzerland
If you’re taking the train in Switzerland, your first stop should be the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB) website. Except for a few scenic routes, SBB runs all the local, commuter (通勤) trains, and high-speed trains in the country.

Facilities
Each train seat or group of seats is fitted with an electrical outlet and may have a USB charger.
Intercity trains may have restaurants with tableside service, or bars offering drinks and light snacks, including hot items.
Intercity trains have a family coach as the first or last car — it’s a kid-friendly coach with games and a soft play area.
The Swiss Travel Pass

On September 25, 1999, then 47-year-old Murray went on one of her skydiving trips. Having gone skydiving more than 30 times before, she thought it felt like any ordinary skydiving. She jumped from a height of 14,500 feet, rushing to the ground at a speed of 80 mph, when she found that her main parachute (降落伞) would not open. Murray continued her free fall until her secondary chute finally worked when she was at a distance of 700 feet to the ground. However, with panic coursing through her, she spun out of control while in the air, causing the chute to go down, and began her fall again.
The impact of the fall shattered (粉碎) the right side of Murray’s body when she landed. To make matters worse, she landed on a fire ant hill, where she was attacked and stung (叮咬) repeatedly by the fire ants there. More than 200 stings later, she was found barely conscious by the ambulance workers and was immediately brought to the Carolina Medical Center.
She spent 2 weeks in unconsciousness. Unlucky as she was to have suffered injuries and fire ant attacks, her doctors thought that the fire ant stings actually saved her. They believed that the numerous stings from the ants gave enough nerve stimuli (刺激) and shocks to keep her heart beating and keep her alive.
After her near brush with death, Murray spent her “second life” more positively. As she shared in an interview, “I’ve learned to spend time on the important things.” However, 2 years after her full recovery, Murray was out skydiving again and that time, she landed safely.
Just to give you an idea of her pain besides the shattered right body, fire ants are among the top ten insects in the world with the most painful stings. More than 200 stings of this insect are truly annoying, but if it is what will keep you alive as in Murray’s situation, you’ l appreciate those fire ants too!
24. What mainly caused the failure of Murray’s skydiving
A. The strong wind. B. Her feeling of fear.
C. Her lack of skydiving experience. D. The improper use of the secondary chute.
25. What did Murray’s doctors think of fire ants
A. They seldom attack people actively. B. They are too dangerous to touch.
C. They were helpful to Murray. D. They can cure heart disease.
26. What did Murray do after her full recovery
A. She picked up her hobby again.
B. She was considering a career shift.
C. She learned the value of protecting herself.
D. She taught others survival skills here and there.
27. Why does the author introduce fire ants in the last paragraph
A. To let people have a better idea of Murray’s situation.
B. To correct people’s misunderstanding about fire ants.
C. To educate people to be grateful to every creature.
D. To encourage people to show love for fire ants.
C
Light pollution is defined as too much misdirected or obtrusive (突兀的) artificial light. This definition applies to unwanted light in your own community as well as the night sky.
The primary cause of light pollution is the improper use of outdoor lighting. Many lights are arranged in a way that wastes up to 60% of their emitted (发散的) light. About 50% of emitted light shines directly into the atmosphere, a large percentage bouncing back down to Earth and creating the dome (穹顶) of light over cities called skyglow. We can see these domes from many miles away and they have a significantly negative effect on our view of the universe. The remaining 10% of that wasted light shines directly into our line of sight producing blinding light which destroys our ability to see safely at night.
Not only does light pollution make our cultural connections weaker and prevent our scientific explorations of the night sky, but it also harms wildlife. Many animals that rely on the natural darkness of the night to hunt become confused about the obtrusive skyglow of artificial light. Their inborn ability to follow this false light leads them on an unnatural routes which often leads to death.
Light pollution also takes a toll on our limited resources. It is estimated that up to 35% of the total outdoor lighting in the United States is completely wasted into the atmosphere. This means that 35% of the resources we use to create that electricity are completely wasted. This translates to about 3 billion dollars a year in wasted resources that are creating sky glow and light pollution.
We have seen a big increase in light pollution over the last few decades. Many people have watched the Milky Way disappear over their homes as growing unwanted light dominates the sky like continuous, incoming tides. Thankfully, unlike many other forms of irreparable pollution, light pollution is 100% fixable, which can be cleaned up at the speed of light.
28. What is the main cause of light pollution according to the text
A. The inefficient use of outdoor lighting.
B. The overuse of household electric lights.
C. The reflection of light from the atmosphere.
D. The popularity of shining domes over cities.
29. How does light pollution harm animals at night
A. By making them overactive. B. By exposing them to their hunters.
C. By disturbing their biological clock. D. By leading them off their hunting routes.
30. Which of the following can replace the underlined phrase “takes a toll on” in Paragraph 4
A. has a bad effect on B. breaks away from
C. keeps an eye on. D. adds up to.
31. What can be inferred about light pollution from the last paragraph
A. It can be costly to deal with.
B. It will disappear sooner or later.
C. It can be relatively easy to get rid of.
D. It will cause lasting effects on the environment.
D
While we’re busy seeing world governments and car makers try to increase the use of electric vehicles, there’s one thing of a sci-fi future that no one has quite been able to deliver on: the promise of a flying car. Now it turns out that the reality of a winged car doesn’t look as far-off as it once did, but it’s not going to be anywhere near affordable.
Having factored in the various expensive elements needed to make a flying car a reality, including wings that can be hidden, jet engines and large fuel tanks, the Pentagon Motor Group did the math. The result is a model that, if available for selling, would be pricier than Ferrari’s 986-HP SF90 Stradale hybrid supercar.
The estimated asking prices have been calculated (计算) to be $686, 455 while the 2022 SF90 Stradale has an MSRP (manufacturer’s suggested retail price) of $625,000 in the U. S. According to a report by Fox Business, Pentagon Motor Group’s marketing chief Shakeel Hussian says that the cost of owning a flying car isn’t realistic for most, with it being identified as an expensive machine whose calling card is technology. But he expects costs to decrease as time goes on, like electric vehicles. “The cost of the first electric cars started high and has slowly become more affordable and widely available.”
If you’re in the market for a flying car, Pentagon Motor Group shortlisted some of the cars they looked at when estimating a price. They include the likes of AeroMobil, PAL-V, Aska, the Moller M400 Skycar, Terrafugia, and the SkyDrive. All of them are expected to cost you a small fortune. But the expenses don’t stop there. Between a flying license, insurance, as well as parking and fuel, owners can expect to pay $69,000 more during their very first year of ownership. It is convincing enough to conclude that, at least in the beginning, flying cars will only be aimed at the wealthy few.
32. What do we know about flying cars from Paragraph 1
A. The demand for them is larger than that for electric vehicles.
B. The idea is warmly welcomed by world governments.
C. They are likely to become a reality in the near future.
D. They are often seen in sci-fi movies.
33. What did the Pentagon Motor Group find after doing the math
A. A flying car needed extremely large fuel tanks.
B. Only rich people were interested in flying cars.
C. The making of a flying car was too challenging.
D. The cost of a flying car would be very high.
34. What does Shakeel Hussian mainly want to show by mentioning electric vehicles in Fox Business
A. Flying cars’ prices can see some reduction in the future.
B. Electric cars are becoming increasingly popular now.
C. Technology can help lower the production costs.
D. Electric vehicles has amore promising future than flying cars.
35. What would be the best title for the text
A. Are flying cars really coming B. Can you really afford a flying car
C. Do you really want an expensive car D. What cars are worth buying in the future

Sometimes you can count on (指望) people to do the right thing. When Dave Tally found a backpack with a laptop and an envelope full of cash in 2010, he could have considered it a very lucky day. The homeless man counted $3,300 in the bag, an amount that would make a huge difference in his life. However, as tempting (诱人的) as it was to keep the money, deep down he knew it wasn’t the right thing to do.
Back then, Tally was sleeping in the basements of local churches and trying to save up enough money to fix his only source of transportation: his bike. That money could have bought him, a brand new one. Instead, he turned the bag to his boss at the Tempe Community Action Agency, an organization that helps homeless people in the area find jobs. Tally had been working there part-time.
“Finding the envelope with the cash was just exciting. There were lots of crazy thoughts that went through my head,” Tally told ABC News at the time. “I went into the survival mode for a moment, actually more than a moment, thinking about all the things I could do for myself.”
“I beat myself up pretty hard for even thinking I would spend one cent of that person’s money,” Tally added.
After Tally made up his mind to return the bag, he faced the problem of tracking down its owner. There were no identifiers on the backpack or a way to get into the laptop without a password. But then someone suggested checking the flash drive (闪存盘) that they’d also found inside the bag to see if it held any clues (线索).
It sure did. Arizona State University student Bryan Belanger had uploaded his resume (简历) to the drive, easily providing Tally with his contact information. As it turned out, Bryan Belanger was carrying that cash because he was buying a used car from Craigslist website, and he accidentally left his belongings in a station on the way to work.
Paragraph 1:
Belanger was regretful for his carelessness and thought his backpack was gone forever. ____________________

Paragraph 2:
Tally said the day he found the money’s rightful owner was the day his life changed. _______________________

应用文
Yesterday I attended an impressive lecture on literature, which was launched in our school hall.
The lecture was delivered by Mr Brown, a leading figure of modern literature. He first shared his road to literary writing with us, including the sources of inspiration and the difficulties he had encountered. Then, he provided us with some useful advice about reading and writing skills. Finally, to help us have a better understanding of the skills, he gave us a thorough explanation of the world-famous masterpiece A Tale of Two Cities.
In a word, I have benefited a lot from the lecture. And I decide to participate in such activities more actively.

Paragraph 1:
Belanger was regretful for his carelessness and thought his backpack was gone forever. When he saw Tally with his backpack, he was so moved that he offered a cash reward which was turned down by Tally. Meanwhile, Tally's story made the local news, and strangers began sending him cheques and seeking him out to hand him cash in person. As a result, he had more than enough to fix his bike; what’s more, he was able to use his experience to educate others and change the way people think of homeless people.
Paragraph 2:
Tally said the day he found the money's rightful owner was the day his life changed. From then on, people kept sending him donations to the point where he was able to get his own apartment and stop sleeping in church basements. But he never gave up helping people; he gave some of the donations to Tempe Community Action Agency and encouraged people to provide homeless people with more work opportunities. In his efforts, more homeless people found suitable jobs, improved their living conditions, and turned their lives around.

W: That’s too bad. I was planning to visit the country.
M: I’m afraid you’ll have to wait for another time.
W: I guess so.
Text 10
M: Hi, everyone! I’m really glad to have this opportunity to study with you on this beautiful campus. My name is Stephen. I was born in Montreal, Canada, but I’ve lived in South Carolina for about 12 years, which is on the southeastern coast of the United States. If you want to travel there, I can definitely be your guide. I have a twin brother, which most people find amazing. Because we look so much alike that people can’t even tell us apart. One eye-catching aspect of my life is that I won a national prize for an invention back in high school. It is a device to clean wheelchair tires for the disabled. And I’m very proud of that and it gives me the greatest sense of achievement. Something else many of you may find interesting about me is that I was a competitive swimmer and earned a Division I swimming title in middle school. I love swimming, and I will continue with my hobby here. If you want to know more about me, you are welcome to visit my Instagram. Thank you for your listening.
