have done/ did I have already given the present to her. I already gave the present to her.
have got/ have Have you got a radio Do you have a radio
在英式英语中,描述一个刚刚完成、并对现在产生影响的动作,用现在完成时,常与yet, just, already 等词连用,如果用一般过去时表达则会被视为错误。
而在美式英语中,既可以用现在完成时,也可以用一般过去时,并且一般过去时更为常用。例如:
英式英语 美式英语
I've just had lunch. I just had lunch.
I've already read that book. I've already read that book.
Have you washed your hands Did you wash your hands
Have you finished your homework Have you finished your homework
美式英语在表示星期几和月份的词前面常常省略介词。例如:
英式英语
The play opens on Thursday.
I’ll be here in December.
I’ll write to him
美式英语
The play opens Thursday.
I’ll be here December.
I’ll write him.
There are also some differences in pronunciation. One of the most obvious is that, in British English, the consonant /r/ is pronounced only before a vowel, e.g. classroom.
In other case, the /r/ is silent, e.g. car.
In American English, the /r/ is always pronounced.
You can consult a dictionary to find out more about the differences.
