第一天
Productive people have one thing in common: a solid routine consisting of small habits that help them to keep a healthy mindset and lifestyle. 1 . Research has shown that a habit takes approximately 21 days to become normal behavior. So here are some habits you can start to practice to become a productive person.
Establish a morning routine
The most effective way of staying productive is to wake up at the same time every day, even on the weekends. 2 . By performing small, routine tasks like opening your windows as soon as you wake up, your body and mind will know that it’s time to begin your day’s work. You should also take a couple of minutes to stretch before getting ready, and then make your bed. These may seem like unimportant tasks, but they set the tone for remaining productive throughout the day.
Make daily to-do lists
3 . Some people prefer to make their to-do lists first thing in the morning, while others like to do them each night to prepare for the day ahead. Either way, it will help you to keep on track and to manage your time and workload efficiently.
4
Writing down and organizing your thoughts can help you to track and achieve goals. You should even write down your accomplishments in your diary, no matter how small, to help motivate you to keep going. You can also track the progress of your bigger goals and make notes of the smaller tasks you can accomplish to achieve them. 5 .
A.Keep a journal
B.Having enough sleeping is important
C.Motivate someone else to make notes
D.This helps your body maintain its biorhythm
E.Making a list of priorities for the day helps you to stay on track
F.For many of them, it doesn’t take long to integrate into their routine
G.The process of recording will help you to reflect and boost brain function
Procrastination(拖延) may be a problem that everyone struggles with now and then. It can be tough to begin or advance major projects or challenging tasks timely. 6 .
Get down to your work.
Force yourself to begin. This might seem too simplistic, but even sitting down to begin a project or buying some necessities for a home repair, for example, can help change your mindset. 7 , especially when it comes to overcoming procrastination.
Avoid interruptions as much as possible. When you finally sit down to complete a task, it can be discouraging to get interrupted repeatedly, whether it’s an impolite roommate or an electronic device like your phone. 8 .
Increase your productivity.
Break tasks down into manageable sizes. 9 . Breaking down projects into smaller goals can help you stop procrastinating and face up to your work, thus acting quickly.
Reward yourself for completing tasks. Even if your project is something you dislike, you can help yourself get started by promising yourself something enjoyable upon its completion. Having something to look forward to can inspire you to fight procrastination.
10 .
Don’t procrastinate because of a desire for perfection. Our obsession(痴迷) with perfection can cause us to procrastinate indirectly. It can lead to working endlessly on a project until it’s past its deadline. Accept that you only need to do your best and then hand in your work. Don’t procrastinate just because you think it might not be perfect.
A.Set specific goals for yourself
B.Maintain reasonable expectations
C.After all, not everyone can make it – no sooner said than done
D.The old saying that getting started is half the battle is really true
E.However, there are practical ways for you to fight procrastination
F.This can cause a break and make it easy to go back to procrastination
G.Pressure from worrying about huge projects can cause you to put off them

How High School Juniors Prepare for College over Winter Break
Here are a few ways high school juniors can spend their winter break preparing for college.
11
Colleges usually close for Christmas and New Year’s Day, but their websites and social media are open and should be a student’s first stop. If you haven’t yet started a list of colleges that interest you, now it is a great time to do so and go to their websites.
Research Majors(专业)and Jobs
12 But there are ways to narrow down a college major and future work path. Use your free time during the break to follow a professional in your work path of interest.
Find a Cause You Care about and Volunteer
Schools like to see well-rounded students, and that includes seeing what students care about. 13 It can also open up a broader world to you and help you understand what you have to contribute to it.
Focus on Your Physical and Mental Health
Finding out how to manage your health is a key life skill. Whether in high school or college, learning now how to develop and support yourself physically and mentally will be rewarded as you face the unavoidable challenges. 14
Start Making Travel Plans
Travel can broaden a student’s view and inspire new adventures along the way. 15 Most colleges will have their visit dates ready for future students to sign up for through early May by this time.
A.Try to Keep a Happy and Active Social Life
B.It also means improving your habits and lifestyle.
C.Research Colleges to Begin Building Your College List
D.You can also search online for summer-work opportunities.
E.Finding out what to do “when I grow up” is often the hardest decision.
F.Putting your time to a cause or a task can be a great learning experience.
G.The holidays can also be a perfect time to visit colleges that you’re considering.
Unlike a tourist, a traveler is someone who wants to experience another culture and avoid “tourist traps” and other less authentic experience. 16
17 Knowing the history and culture of where you’re going will help you connect with the locals, be more travel-conscious, and improve your experience overall. Start researching by reading guidebooks and then look into local newspapers and documentaries if possible.
Ask locals for advice. You don’t have to stop someone random on the street to get advice from a local. 18 Whether you want day trip, food, nightlife, or other advice, the locals can help!
Try free activities like riding bicycles and hiking. These types of activities are often overlooked during vacations because of the need to do everything “important” in any given city. However, biking around a city gives you a great view of the architecture and a sense for the city’s life and vibrancy. 19
Travel alone. Push yourself outside of your comfort zone by traveling alone and relying only on yourself and the friends you make during your trip. Sometimes, you’ll be making temporary friends, otherwise, they might be friends you stay in contact via social media or messaging. 20
A.Research your travel destination and pack appropriately.
B.Similarly, hiking in forests and parks can be a beautiful and relaxing way to connect with the culture.
C.Study your travel destination before leaving
D.Ask your taxi drivers, bartenders, and hotel receptionists where they recommend.
E.Ask locals where they’re going, if they have any advice for things to do in the region, and about their experience in the area.
F.But sometimes, travelling alone and meeting someone else in a foreign place leads to a friendship that can last a lifetime.
G.To embrace the traveler in you, focus on the culture of the country or city you’re visiting and connect with locals for advice and new friendships.

We clearly live in an era with little patience. Entire TV series are available at once on streaming services, and burning questions are solved in seconds via a search engine. This instant satisfaction, undoubtedly, is killing our ability to wait. 21 . Here are some strategies to pick up that magic mix if you weren’t born with it.
● Visualize success
There’s no need to set a real situation where you wait in a super long grocery checkout line to test yourself. Simply visualizing it helps a lot. See yourself smiling and breathing as you wait for the line to move. 22 . For example, you could say, “it’s not bad to enjoy this magazine while waiting”. Your mind will start to process the picture as a real experience and help to set you up for future successes.
● Slow down
Racing around is not necessarily the only way to get what you want. 23 . Most adults do not feel happy when they’re rushing, and children are even less capable of doing it with a good attitude. Instead of sweating through your routine, turn on some background music you like and move at a normal pace.
● 24
The ability to let your mind wander, whether daydreaming or actively applying your imagination, is a skill that improves patience. 25 . Take a break and do something that could free your brain from the work that takes tons of energy. This helps you build up your staying power, so next time you might be more patient and more likely to focus on your task.
A.Learn to distract yourself
B.Add some positive words if possible
C.Therefore, we are getting more and more impatient
D.You don’t have to get the whole paper done in one go
E.We get so caught up in hurrying that we get stuck in that mode
F.But sometimes, a fast pace does improve our working efficiency
G.Thus, the loss of this mixed quality of tolerance and calmness is unavoidable
With the current world conditions forcing us to stay longer indoors, you’ve likely tried to pick up a new skill. If you aren’t an active learner, you may think it’s taking you too long to pick up that new skill. 26 But slow learning often has more to do with our ability to focus and our attitude towards learning than our innate ability to learn. Let’s take a look at three reasons why you may be learning slowly.
Lack of focus makes learning slow. But once you improve your focus, you’ll be surprised by how much faster you can gain new knowledge and skills. So try every means to improve your focus. 27 Choose a quiet environment to do your learning and ensure you won’t be interrupted.
Unrealistic expectations make us believe we’re slow learners. Whenever we want to pick up a new skill, we assume that the learning process will go smoothly. 28 When we don’t meet our unrealistic expectations of how fast we should be learning, we think we don’t have any talent or that we aren’t smart. So we must keep our expectations realistic.
29 The person who’s already a good surfer and skater has a foundation of board sports to transfer into snowboard, which will make him learn the new skill faster. We may think we’re slow learners when we compare ourselves to others, but they may already have knowledge and skills that allow them to pick up the new learning much quicker. 30 The more we learn, the faster we can learn new things.
A.Beliefs have a strong influence on learning.
B.You might even think that you’re slow learner.
C.We don’t know what they’ve learned in the past.
D.For instance, remove as many distractions as possible.
E.Previous learning affects how quickly we learn something new.
F.The strategy here to become a faster learner is to never stop learning.
G.But the reality is that learning is sometimes frustrating, stressful, and slow.
