Language points
visit a fire station 参观消防站 (教材P64 1a)
fire为名词作定语。当fire作物质名词“火”讲时为不可数名词,而作“炉火,取暖器”讲时则是可数名词,fire station意为“消防站”。常用结构为:be on fire着火;make a fire生火;catch fire着火;put out a fire灭火。
eg:Don’t play with fire, because it's very dangerous.
不要玩火,因为它很危险。
There was a big fire in the next street last night. 昨晚邻街起了大火。
The factory was on fire yesterday. 昨天那家工厂着火了。
Let’s make a fire. 让我们生火吧。
Dry leaves are easy to catch fire. 干树叶很容易着火。
Those young firemen were brave enough to put out the fire in the forest.
那些年轻的消防队员们足够勇敢,扑灭了森林火灾。
【拓展延伸】
(1) fire作名词,还有“炉火;灶火”的含义。make/build a fire“生火”。
eg:You put up the tent, and I’ll make a fire. 你搭帐篷我来生火。
(2) fire还可作动词,意为“开枪,开火;开除”。
eg:The officer ordered his men to fire. 军官下令士兵射击。
We had to fire him for dishonesty. 他不诚实,我们不得不开除他。
2. How was your trip last week 上周你的旅行怎么样?(教材P64 1b听力)
本句为询问某事情况的常用句型,其中was是be动词的过去式,如果询问当前的情况则be动词用is。其答语常用:It was great.(好极了。)/It was OK.(还可以。)/It wasn’t good.(不好。)/ It was not bad.(还不错。)等。
eg:—How was her holiday 她的假期过得怎么样?
—It was not bad.还不错。
【拓展】how是疑问副词,意为“怎么样,怎么”,用来构成特殊疑问句,主要用法如下:①询问如何做某事或做某事的方式。
eg:How do you go to work 你怎么去上班?
How did she come 她是怎么来的?
②询问健康状况怎么样或情况如何。
eg:How is your grandfather 你爷爷的身体怎么样?
How is it going 情况怎么样?
3. saw some paintings (教材P64 1c)
painting 意为“油画;绘画”。
paint 作动词时,意为“绘画;给……上油漆”。
painter 名词,意为“画家;油漆工”。
eg:I saw some Chinese paintings. 我看到了一些中国油画。
I don’t like to paint.我不喜欢绘画。
He is a famous painter.他是一位著名的画家。
