ChatGPT
There’s a new AI robot: ChatGPT, and you’d better read carefully, even if you don’t know artificial intelligence(人工智能). ChatGPT is a tool made by the company OpenAI in November 2022. They wanted to show everyone what a very large, powerful AI system can achieve.
ChatGPT remembers your conversations, using the questions you asked and its answers to prepare its next sentences. It makes its answers from lots of information on the Internet. It can do many other things, such as writing papers, describing art very well, creating AI art ideas, having thoughtful conversations and even writing computer codes(密码) for you!
Perhaps it’s not smart enough to replace(替代) all humans yet, but it can be creative. A few days after its launch(上市), more than 1 million people were trying out ChatGPT. It was said that about 100 million people used ChatGPT in February 2023.
However, ChatGPT cannot replace Baidu. ChatGPT is an AI robot that gives answers to your questions, but Baidu is a website that helps you look for information.
ChatGPT is still new and has a lot of problems. Here are 5 big problems that experts have noticed:
1. ChatGPT might give wrong answers. Don’t use it for math questions or medical advice!
2. ChatGPT might take jobs from humans. It could make it harder for writers, teachers, artists and computer programmers to make their living.
3. ChatGPT could challenge high school writing homework. It will make it easier for students not to write their own papers and lose their own responsibility.
4. ChatGPT could cause harm to people. If someone asks it a question instead of going to the hospital, it will be very dangerous.
5. ChatGPT has too much power. We don’t know what the training system details are, so we don’t know where it is getting the information to give you the answers.
ChatGPT is a fun and exciting new technology for everyone to use and experiment with. We can make the best use of ChatGPT for learning. But be careful with it!

After breakfast, students go to school and there is a graduation ceremony. After picking up their diplomas (毕业证书), students will make their way out into an outside space at the school. Their family and friends gather there and wait for their coming. Each family holds up a picture of the students as a baby or a small child. Then they give flower chains to wear round the students’ necks. Family and friends also give them small gifts, such as a medal, a ring or a watch, which are usually kept for the rest of life.
With loud music, students get on a truck. And there are some slogans (标语) hanging on the truck. The truck runs around the town while the students wave, dance, laugh and enjoy themselves. People in the street will cheer to express good wishes as the students drive past.
Graduation in Sweden has turned into a whole town event. Relaxation seems to have become the real theme of Swedish graduation. The only thing students need to do is to enjoy the time with their friends and family.

Passing on Beauty of Words
Famous American poet Robert Frost once said, “Poetry is what gets lost in translation.” A well-known Chinese translator, Xu Yuanchong, has tried his best to pass on the beauty of ancient Chinese poetry all his life.
Xu has just turned 100 years old. On April 1, China Translation and Publishing House published a series of books about his life and career to pay respects to him.
Since 1978, Xu has published more than 100 translated novels, anthologies(选集) and plays in Chinese, English and French. Especially, he translated Chinese poems into English and French. He is also the first Asian winner of the “Aurora Borealis Prize” for Outstanding Translation of Fiction Literature.
Xu is known to be very strict in his work. He has given his mind to “translating beautifully”. For him, English is a “scientific” language that requires correctness, while Chinese is an “artistic” language that includes a wider range of content. Following this, Xu keeps his translations correct and beautiful.
Through Xu’s translations, historic Chinese wisdom has made an influence on Western societies and the world at large.
For example, when former US president Barack Obama tried to begin a reform(改革), some officers were against at first. But after reading the poem titled Fishing in Snow(《江雪》) translated by Xu, one officer was so impressed with the fisherman’s independent, non-conformist(不墨守成规的) thinking that he chose to support Obama, noted NewsChina.
Having made such great achievements, the 100-year-old is still hard-working. He lives alone in an old house near Peking University. Every day he translates about 1,000 words, working till 3 to 4 a.m., sleeping about 3 hours and getting up at 6 a.m. to continue.
