Teaching Objectives:
By the end of the class, students are expected to
understand the meaning of the new word ‘regularly’;
use adverbs of degree ‘too many’ ‘too much’ and ‘not…enough’ to express amounts;
use modal verbs ‘should/ should not’ to express suggestions;
raise the consciousness to get rid of bad habits and develop good habits.

Warm-up Choose a drink and give the reason. To arouse Ss’ interest and to elicit the topic of this class
Pre-task 1. Watch a video clip .Take some notes and discuss the truth of orange juice drinks. To learn the truth of juice drinks
While-task Look at a picture of Spaceboy and discuss the bad health habits he has in pairs. To let Ss get familiar with some bad habits before listening
Express Spaceboy’s bad health habits in a proper way using ‘too many/ too much/not…enough’. To let Ss learn new expressions ‘to many/ too much/not…enough’
Listen to the recording and tick the correct answers. To help Ss get some detailed information of Spaceboy’s habits
Retell what Spaceboy did last week using ‘too many/too much/not enough’. To consolidate the new expressions of bad health habits
Listen to the recording again and fill in the blanks. Learn the new word ‘regularly’. To learn how to make suggestions on staying healthy by using ‘You should/ should not…’
Listen to the text and repeat the sentences with books closed. Then practice the dialogue with the help of the pictures. To consolidate the new expressions of good health habits and learn the text in the book
Post-task 1.Have a discussion on instant noodles and read the title of the news. Then listen to the news recording. 2.Discuss the main reasons why instant noodles lose favour in China. 3. Homework Listen to the recording and practise reading the dialogue on P62 for three times. (Pay attention to the intonation and pronunciation.) Use the speaking task on the worksheet as a model to write a report on how to save an instant noodles company.
教学设计说明
一、教材分析
本课的教学内容选自牛津上海版第一学期第三模块的第八单元(7AM3U8),本模块的话题围绕学生熟悉的饮食与健康展开,与学生生活联系紧密。本单元的主题是Growing healthy, growing strong,本课时Good habits or bad habits是本单元中的听说板块学习内容。
单元主题呼应《上海市初中英语学科教学基本要求》第六单元“功能意念”中的常用功能——建议(Advice and suggestion)。本课时将话题、语言和功能结合起来,学生围绕好坏生活习惯这一主题进行听说活动。学生通过聆听主人公Spaceboy健康问题上的烦恼以及朋友给他提出的改正不良习惯的建议,可以学习如何运用too many/much,not enough表达不良生活习惯程度,并运用句型You should/should not…以及词汇fewer/less/more针对不良生活习惯提出劝告。本课的情感价值观目标设定为让学生在给他人提健康建议的同时,认识自身的坏习惯,提升健康生活的意识。特别是让学生在最后输出活动中给方便面厂方领导提改进建议,贴近生活,让学生通过听的活动发现问题,再学以致用试图解决问题,具有现实意义。不但培养学生分析问题和解决问题的能力,而且增强学生的主人翁意识。
二、学情分析
本节课教学对象为上海市民办新华初级中学初一(6)班学生。在背景知识方面,学生对于教材中健康好习惯与坏习惯的内容并不陌生,但是对于本课pre-task中果汁饮料的真相,以及post-task中方便面主题的材料恐怕所知甚少。因此在这两部分更关注学生语篇整体理解和归纳能力的培养。课堂活动以边听边记、听后归纳、小组活动为主。在语言方面,学生的学习难点在于能在情境中运用新授内容‘too many/much/not enough’描述坏习惯以及选用合适的修饰词‘fewer/less/more’给出合理建议。因此教师在新授过程中应运用清晰的板书和适时的强调帮助学生正确运用语言。如果学生在口头表达中出现可数名词与不可数名词的修饰词搭配错误,可以巧妙地适时纠正。
三、 教学设计思路
Warm-up (预热环节)
调查学生对于饮料的喜好,引出bad health habits这一主题。
Pre-listening(听前活动)
带着 ‘What’s the truth of juice drinks ’ 的问题观看BBC纪录片(The truth of juice drinks)片段,激发学生的审辨思维和归纳能力。
学生通过小组讨论总结果汁饮料含糖量过高的真相,为健康饮料的挑选提出建议。
(三)While-listening(听中活动)
1. 通过观察图片,学生归纳bad health habits的英语表达,梳理too many/too much/not enough在表达健康习惯中的用法。
2. 听录音,先指出主人公Spaceboy的健康问题,再使用目标语言针对性地给出建议。
(四)Post-listening(听后活动)
阅读新闻标题Instant Noodles Lose Favour in China,预测方便面在中国失去市场的原因。
听文本来核实猜测,运用本节课目标语言指出方便面不受欢迎的原因。小组就如何拯救一个方便面公司提出具体建议。加深对话题“健康生活”的理解和诠释。
(五)Homework(作业布置)
模仿语音语调,朗读第62页课文三遍;
以如何拯救一个方便面公司为题根据老师所给框架写一个报告并准备下一节课展示。
