Don’t want to miss the train Here are some steps to follow!★Enter the railway station. There are X-ray machines at the gate of each railway station. All the luggage (行李) has to be passed through to examine for dangerous things. Once you put your luggage on the machine, please go to the other side and get it quickly in case that your luggage is taken either by mistake or on purpose.★Find the right waiting room. After you enter the railway station, you should find the hall where your train is going to leave from. There are always electronic boards at the railway station with information shown in Chinese. You can find your waiting room according to the information given on your train ticket, or you can ask a member of staff (工作人员) for help if you are in trouble with Chinese.★Get onto the platform (月台). In most cases, check-in starts 30 minutes before the train leaves if it is the starting station. So you are advised to arrive at the station one hour early. If it is not a starting station, check in starts when the train arrives, then you just need to be 30 minutes early. You will be informed by radio then. Remember to take all your luggage!★Board the train. The train number and the carriage (车厢) number are shown outside the train clearly; So it is easy to find your carriage. As a reader, I, as many other book lovers do, often leave with a long sigh after visiting a bookstore. The prices printed on book jackets keep reminding me how thin my wallet is.
The price of books is now so high that I hesitate(犹豫) before buying a book I love. Many people feel the same way. But I remember that only a few years ago, when I was a college student, I bought several books almost every month, using what was left out of the living expenses sent by my parents, and that was not more than 200 yuan.
But now that I am working and the money I earn is only used to support my own expenses, I find I can’t afford many good books.
There is a saying, “Book lovers have no money, but rich people have no feelings for books.” This is exactly the case. Sometimes I wonder about who the books are published for, especially those books with beautiful hard covers.
It is said that usually, the listed price is more than twice as much as the book’s cost and we can see high profits from selling books. But now there is a contradiction(矛盾). On one hand, readers who want to buy books aren’t able to, while on the other hand, publishers and sellers suffer from the large stock piles of unsaleable books being stored in their warehouses(仓库). This situation is also a disadvantage to intellectual property right protection(知识产权保护) because many books of bestsellers are sold at a lower price at some book stands.
The key to resolving that problem is to cut the price to an acceptable level to both sellers and consumers.
I wish sincerely that in the near future common readers like me could buy the books we want without worrying about the high prices too much.
4.The first paragraph of this article tells us that ________.
A.the writer is one of those who can’t afford to buy books
B.many readers are too poor to buy expensive books
C.the prices of some books are too high
D.all of the above
5.The writer ________ at college.
A.was living a very simple life B.was very rich when studying
C.often bought books when studying D.hesitated to buy anything but books
6.From the fifth paragraph, we can see ________.
A.it’s no good for publishers and sellers if the prices are too high
B.publishers should have set the prices of books high
C.booksellers can hardly earn their living by selling books
D.the high prices of books were set by many factors

Changes have also come to Sherpas dinner table: they eat healthier food than they used to. They can also get food from other places. Besides, they are able to get and use quality building materials (建筑材料). The new buildings are much safer than they used to be.
There are some Sherpas, however, who like the old way of living their lives. Some older Sherpas are upset that people seem to be moving away from the traditional way of life. (2022春·天津西青·八年级统考期末)Last weekend we went to the Wyefield Activity Centre. There were two classes from our school, and two from Highpark Junior. I shared a room with Sharon, Jane and two other girls from Highpark, Susie and Beth. I was a bit worried about sharing with girls I didn’t know but we soon got on well.
On Saturday morning we visited a mining museum(采矿博物馆). After a picnic lunch we went boating on the Wye. It was good fun, but hard work. At first we just went round in circles. With Mr Thompson’s help, we started to move forward slowly. After dinner we watched a film. We stayed up talking in bed so late that Mrs Wiggins came round and told us off! Then we stopped talking and went to sleep.
I was pretty tired the next morning. Still the morning trip to the water park was wonderful. I liked water slides(水上滑梯)best. Everyone had a good time there. In the afternoon we paid a visit to a castle(城堡). The castle was right on the top of a hill. Some of the walls fell down but most of the walls were still there. There were so many fun and interesting things to do on the island, but my favorite was fishing. Every day, my mom, my dad, my younger brother Derek and I went to the beach. We took our little fishing boat with us. Mom didn’t like fishing, so she stayed on the beach and read a book.

Then we should make a sign about not throwing rubbish into the sea, and put it in the sand on the beach,” I said. “I’ll help, too,” said Derek. “Great idea, boys. Long long ago, in the forest there lived a deer, a bird and a mouse. They were good friends.
One day, a turtle(龟)came to them and said, “I’m all alone. I want to join your group and become your friend.”
“You’re most welcome,” they said.
One day, when the four friends were playing, they saw a hunter(猎人)coming. The deer ran away into the forest. The bird flew high in the sky and the mouse ran into a hole(洞). The turtle couldn’t run as fast as the others. The hunter caught it and put it in a bag. Though the hunter was a bit upset that he didn’t catch the deer, he thought that it was better to at least have a turtle to eat. The deer, the mouse and the bird were worried about the turtle. Ocean trash is counted in three ways: through beach surveys, computer models based on examples collected at sea, and counts of the amount of trash entering the oceans. Well, scientists have come up with a new way to count ocean trash. And the numbers are even worse than thought. The Professional Association of Diving Instructors (PADI, 专业潜水教练协会)is working with sportswear company RashR to make face masks out of plastic pollution from the ocean. Each mask is sold with five replacement filters(替换滤芯) at $20. 40(about 140 yuan ), which is just enough to cover the cost of making it. “We are not making money from this,”Lisa Neckline from PADI told CNN. “We do this because we care about the ocean.” The company has received more than 15, 000 mask pre-orders within a few weeks. (2021春·辽宁大连·八年级统考期末)A box of strawberries is left to rot (腐烂) in your fridge. You must throw it away at once. But it’s more than just strawberries that you are wasting.
The life of a strawberry starts from a seed (种子). A farmer plants the seed and waters it. Later, people pick the strawberry and pack it in a box. A truck takes it far—perhaps 200 to 1,000 kilometers—to a supermarket. Water, labor, fuel (燃料) and money must all be spent in order for a strawberry to come to you. If you waste the strawberry, you will waste all of these things.
It’s hard for people to realize how much work is connected with the food we eat every day. That makes food waste a big problem around the world. Many children go to sleep hungry, and 3.1 million of them die from hunger each year, according to the UN. (2021春·浙江杭州·八年级校考期末)In most parts of the world, many students help their schools make less pollution. They join environment clubs. In an environment club, people work together to make our environment better.
Here are some things students often do.
No-garbage lunches. How many lunch bags do you throw away after lunch Environment clubs ask students to bring their lunches in bags that can be used again. Every week they will choose the classes that make the least garbage and report them to the whole school.
No-car day. On a no-car day, nobody comes to school in a car including the students and the teachers. Cars give pollution to us, so remember: Walk, Jump, bike, or run! Use your legs! It’s lots
of fun!
Turn off the water! Do you know that some toilets can waste twenty to forty cubic (3.7) meters of water an hour In a year, that would fill in a small river. In the environment clubs, students repair those broken toilets.

(2022春·湖南长沙·八年级统考期末)
“Green mountains and clear waters are as good as mountains of gold and silver”. To make our water clearer and our mountains greener, we should start doing garbage classification(垃圾分类).
There are four kinds of wastes: the hazardous(有害的), the recyclable(可回收的), the dry and the wet. The used books and notebooks should be put into the recyclable garbage bins, the batteries should be put into the hazardous garbage bins, the dry leaves should be put into the dry garbage bins and the leftovers(剩饭菜)should be put into the wet garbage bins.
The other day, I found a lady in my neighborhood. She put all the garbage into one garbage bin. She was not doing the garbage classification. When I went to tell her to do it, she looked confused(迷惑的). I realized she knew little about garbage classification. It’s not hard to imagine things like this happen a lot every day.
There is a question coming to my mind—Are we doing enough to let people realize the right way to classify the garbage It seems many people need education on that. We can start to help children know the right thing to do with garbage. As students, we can set up a volunteer team in the garbage station to help those uncles and aunts to put the garbage in the right bin. We can also let them know the benefits of doing this.
If we keep on doing this, our environment will get better. We can see more green mountains and clear waters around us in the near future.
