三、短文填空(话题:来自老师的关爱)
In May, I decided to plan something special for my third-grade children: a Mother’s Day tea. I planned it with the children’s mothers carefully and I even invited my _1_ mother.
On that big day, each child waited at our classroom door happily and they were _2_ about the arrival of their mothers. As it got _3_ to the starting time, I looked around and my eyes quickly found Jimmy—the little boy sat _4_ without a word and looked so upset for his mother hadn’t shown up yet.
I walked to him. “Jimmy,” I said. “I was wondering if you could keep my mother company (陪伴). You know, I’m _5_ holding the activity.”
Jimmy nodded his head. Then he served my mother her treats and presented her with the gift I had made. Whenever I looked over, they were always in deep conversation.
Last year, I took a six-grade class on a field trip, and there was Jimmy. Before we set out, I had required all of them to write _6_ what they planned to do in their booklets (小册子). After we got _7_ to school, I collected their booklets to see if their plans were completed.
When I checked the booklets, I saw that Jimmy had written, “Thanks for all you and your mother did for me in the third grade. I was _8_ of joy at that time.”
Later when he came to get his booklet, I told him, “Actually, I want to say ‘thank you’ because you made my mother’s day.” He looked rather embarrassed and was _9_ to leave. _10_, he turned back and gave me a big, warm hug.
