Welcome to the unit
Teaching aims

To understand vocabulary related to TV programmes.
To learn different types of TV programmes.
2.Ability aims
To talk about favourite TV prgrammes in English.
3.Affection aims
To learn the proper way to watch TV.
To enjoy their lives.
Teaching importances
1.To learn the new words about the types of TV prgrammes.
2.To talk about TV programmes freely.
Teaching difficulties
Hard to get students to discuss their preferences to TV programmes
Teaching methods
Task-based approaches, pair work, group work
Teaching aids
Multi-media, blackboard
Teaching procedures
Step 1 Warm up
1. Have a free talk with students
Q: What do you do every day
Are you getting bored with having lessons
Are you getting tired with doing homework
Step 2 Presentation
1. Show the pictures and learn the types of TV programmes.
Encourage students to say something about TV programmes one by one with pictures.
Teach: comedy, documentary, dialogue, real-life, drama series
2. Let students finish part A. Write down the types of TV progammes under the correct pictures.
3. Guessing game: guess other types of TV programmes.
4. Match game: Choose suitable TV programmes for different people.
Step 3 Practice
1.Play the record in part B and encourage students to choose correct answers.
2.Organize students to read part B and fill in the table.
3.Ask students to make their own dialogues about their favourite TV programmes.
Step 4 Presentation
1. Play the video of comic, ask students to watch the video and answer one question.
Q: What type of TV programmes does Eddie like best
2. Let students learn the comic further.
Q: Is Eddie getting bored with staying at home
What does Eddie do every day
3. Organize students to read the dialogue together.
4. Pair work. Show the dialogue in pairs.
5. Ask students to finish a short passage about the comic.
Step 5 Practice
1.Write down some sentences about their favourite TV programmes.
Step 6 Discussion
1. Discuss the advantages and disadvantages of watching TV
2. Talk about what students should/ shouldn’t do when they watch TV.
Step 7 Homework
1. Review the types of TV programmes.
2. To talk about favourite TV programmes further.
3. Preview reading.
