1. know about six Chinese and Western festivals.
2. know the ways people use to celebrate the festivals.
3. talk about their favourite festivals in English.

1. Lead in
By watching the calendar,learn the two words “festival” and “Halloween” and have a discussion about festivals.
2. Presentation and practice of the Comic
(1) Watch the comic and answer questions.
(2) Learn the expressions of celebrating Halloween.
(3) Fill in blanks of a short article.
(4) Role play the comic.
3. Presentation and practice of the Welcome
(1) Learn two more Western festivals through image and audio.
(2) Start a discussion about Chinese traditional festivals. Encourage students to talk and give instructions when necessary.
(3) Listen to Part B and answer questions.
(4) Read the dialogue in roles.
4. Game to consolidate
(1) Complete sentences with the information of festivals.
(2) Try to talk about the ways people use to celebrate different festivals.
5. Output: Talk about your favorite festival
Students work in pairs to use today’s knowledge to make a dialogue by asking and answering the following three questions:
(1) What is your favourite festival
(2) Why do you like it
(3) What do you usually do on that day
6. Summary
Ask students to try to conclude what they have learned today.

Find songs for your favorite festivals and finish the exercises.
