II. Teaching aims
1.Knowledge aims
(1) To enable learners to read the words and phrases correctly, know about the meanings and recite them:
around, few, a few, game, sit, ping-pong, lesson, write, aha, blackboard, at the back of, draw, picture
(2) To enable learners to consolidate present contious tense.
2.Skill aims
(1) To enable learners to predicting before reading;
(2) To enable learners to practice reading for gist and details by reading the passage and answering the questions.
(3) To enable learners to read and understand the passage about school life;
(4) To enable learners to describe people around by using present contious tense.
3.Emotional aims
(1) To enable learners to find the interests by talking about the school life and school activities;
(2) To enable learners to love school life and be glad to take part in the school activities.

VI. Teaching procedures

Review (5 minutes) Individual work and pair work. Guess the pictures. Look at the part of each picture and guess what he/she is doing. You can answer using the sentence like this: Is he/she playing basketball Is he/she… If you can get the right answer first, your team can get one point. Show the part of a picture and let students guess what he/she is doing.
Pre-reading (8 minutes) 1. The whole class work. 2.Individual work and pair work. 3. The whole class work. 1. Lead in and presentation. Look at the pictures and learn the new words and sentences. He is writing a letter. They are having lessons. 2.Predict. Look at the pictures in PPT, and talk about them with your partners. You have 2 minutes to prepare, and then you can describe the pictures by yourselves. Your group can get points if your answers are correct. 3.Watch the video and check your predictions. 1.Present the new words by pictures. 2.Show the pictures of the passage in PPT, and make Ss predict the context. 3.Make the students watch the video together and check whether their predictions are right or not.
While-reading (15 minutes) Individual work. 2.Individual work and pair work. 3.Individual work. 4.Individual work. To finish 1b. Read the passage quickly and match the activities with the students. Then check answers. Read the passage again to find and understand the phrases: show sb. around a few have a soccer game ... You can talk about the phrases with your partners. Read the passage aloud and underline the structure be+v.-ing. Think about why this structure is used. Then check answers. e.g. Miss Wang is showing a new student around the school. Read the passage aloud and complete the sentences individually. You have 3 minutes to prepare.Then read the sentences one by one. (On the playground) A few students ___ _____around the playground. Some students __ _____ a soccer _____ . Some students ___ _____ basketball. Look! Many students ___ _____ there and _______. ... 1. Make students read the passage fast and finish 1b. Make the students read the passage carefully to find and understand the phrases. 3.Make the students read aloud and underline. Make them understand the usage of the present contious tense . 4. Make students read the passage to fill the blanks, and the retell the passage.
Post-reading (9 minutes) 1.Individual work and group work. 2.The whole class work. 1.Talk about the picture in PPT. Then write a passage to describe what they are doing. Then check your passage with your group members . e.g. In the picture, A is reading a book. B is swimming. C is talking with D… Summarize what we have learned today. We learn some words, phrases and sentences(sing together): He is sitting and watching. (What's he doing ) He is writing a letter. They are playing ping-pong. (What are they doing ) They are having lessons. They are having a soccer game. We can talk about the names of school buildings freely. e.g. on the playground, in the gym, in the classroom We can use the present continuous tense. e.g. She’s cleaning the blackboard. Help the students to consolidate the “Present Continuous” in written work and learn to check the passages each other and find the mistakes. 2.Make a summary and teach students to sing a song according to the sentences they’ve learned in this class. 3.Assign the homework: Write a passage about what your classmates are doing after class.
Teaching reflection: This is a skill-based class. We learn the language points in the passage and practice some reading skills, such as scanning, skimming and reading in details. There are many class activities designed by teacher, so time is intense in this lesson. Teacher should divide time appropriately.
