Step 1 Lead-in
Show some pictures and ask the students: Do you think they are good friends Why do you think they are good friends
Step2 Task presentation: Describing the qualities of a good friend with adjectives and attributive clauses
Step3 Task round1 Listening for Tom’s problems and Patrick’s help
1) Have students listen to the recording in Part A on Page 36 . Ask students to pay attention to Tim’s problems and tick the problems in the boxes in Part A1.
2) Students listen to the recording again and complete the notes in Part A2. In this process, ask students to pay attention to the key sentences about how Patrick helps Tim.
Step4 Task round2 Reading for qualities of a good friend.
The teacher has students read the first paragraph of Patrick’s diary entry on Page 37 and complete the following sentences.
