( )52. What does Little Q look like
【真题解析】根据“Children can also try out cleaning robot Little Q. It is a cute robot with a round head, two big eyes and two long legs.

③ Email their poem(s) to poetrycomp@center. uk.
④ Mark Open or ESL in the top right-hand corner of their document.
A. ①②③④ B. ②①③④ C. ②①④③ D. ③④②①

There’s much to see under the sea,but you need to remember that light behaves differently in water than in air. The objects appear closer to you than they exactly are. You might find yourself reaching out to touch something and completely missing it.
Objects under water will appear larger than they would on the surface, too. Be careful not to tell any stories about the big fish that got away. That fish might
not be so big after all! It’s just because sometimes things can seem to be as much as about 33 percent bigger in water!
What’s more,in deeper water, colors just don’t seem as bright. In fact,it looks as if some colors are missing. Remember the color of an object results from the wavelengths (波长) of light that are reflected (反射)from its surface. And light is taken in as it moves down through the water.
Swimmers wear wet suits to keep warm underwater. Let’s take a bright red, yellow, and blue wet suit as an example. These colors are hard to miss on the surface of water. Watch carefully the changes in color as you descend in the water. The red part now looks almost black because the red light wavelengths, the longest among these three colors, are missing. As you go down deeper, the same thing will happen to the yellow
part and in the end to the blue part. Even at a place of about 6 to 9 meters underwater, you will look terrible, like a ghost(鬼怪)! And you have to wait for your return to the surface to enjoy the bright colors again!
( )64. Which of the following is true
A. A four-meter-long fish looks three meters long underwater.
B. The wavelengths of red light are longer than those of blue light.
C. Much water will be taken in by the swimmer deep in the water.
D. You will see a ghost if you go as deep as 6 to 9 meters into the sea.
【真题解析】此题要求找出表述正确的一项,从文中第四段“The red part now looks almost black because the red light wavelengths, the longest among these three colors, are missing.

2 Some people, however, have concerns about the safety of the uneaten food. They think such food may not be clean enough. Still, this project is a clever way to help solve the problem of food waste and it helps those in need.
( )59. The underlined word “concerns” in this passage means _____.
A. ways B. secrets C. worries D. decisions
【真题解析】根据下文“They think such food may not be clean enough.
4
含有表示推测的情态动词 can, could, might, would 以及表示推断的副词 probably, most likely 等。
According to a research, more than 130 billion pounds of uneaten food go to waste in Laura’s country each year. That is about 30% of the yearly food supply (供应). It is a sad fact, especially when you consider how many families and homeless people are in hunger.

Although Jerry had achieved great success, he didn’t feel fulfilled. He asked himself, “Is it enough to climb the highest mountains Am I doing something helpful How can I turn my adventures into something that can help the world ”
Jerry learned that scientists need plants, rocks and water samples(样本) from places far away to do research. But scientists can’t get there themselves as
such places are hard to reach—only the bravest adventurers can make it. Jerry thought he could do something to help. He then came up with an idea. He set up a team of top adventurers to collect samples for scientists. By studying the samples, scientists could know more about the earth and find ways to protect it.
Recently Jerry and his adventurer friends have discovered a special plant life on Mount Qomolangma.

What steps can you take to improve your memory Whether you need to remember the content of the textbook, or the names of the players in a football team, having a good memory is the key. Follow these tips to improve your brain power, and you’ll experience something wonderful in your life.
Use your brain. That may sound simple, but you need to use it or lose it. Similar to the way your body get stronger through exercise, you can strengthen your brain through brain games. Crossword puzzles, Sudoku (数独) and other brain games help to make the brain active.
Get enough sleep. You may think your brain stops working for the night. But in fact, your brain is active
all night long. While you’re sleeping, your brain organizes all the events and information from your day. A good night’s sleep will help you recall what you learned during the day.
Eat brain food. Your body needs foods to grow and stay healthy, and some foods are especially good for your brain. Foods that are high in Omega-3, like salmon, tuna and eggs, are important. Antioxidants(抗
氧化物质)are also good, because they can get rid of something that can damage the brain.
Focus. If you can’t remember where you put your math homework, maybe it’s because you were also doing something else, like listening to the radio or sending messages to a friend. In order to remember the thing, you must let it get into your brain in the first
place. Paying full attention to what you’re doing could work things out.
Use memory tools. Memory tools help you remember specific facts or information. You can use the first letters to memorize complex content For example, ROYGBIV helps you remember the main colors of the spectrum(光谱): red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, violet.

Monkeypox(猴痘) is a virus from monkeys which was first found in 1958. It spreads among wild animals and sometimes jumps to people.
Most patients of monkeypox used to be in Central and West Africa. The first known human infection(感染) was in 1970, in a 9-year-old boy in Congo. But now monkeypox has been found all over the world.
Most patients only experience fever, body aches and tiredness. People who are more seriously sick may develop a rash(皮疹) on their face and hands that can spread to other parts of the body.
The virus develops in a human body from about five days to three weeks after infection. Most people get well within about two to four weeks without needing to be treated. Monkeypox can lead to death for up to one
in 10 people and is thought to be more severe in children.
How can a person get monkeypox You can get monkeypox if you are bitten by an infected animal or if you touch its blood.
