Can you imagine a cloud floating (漂浮) in the middle of your room Do you want to know what it feels like to fly like a bird Here, we have picked out four interesting inventions to share with you.
Talking Gloves
Four foreign students have created a pair of gloves, and it helps people to communicate with people who have hearing and speaking problems. The gloves have sensors and they recognize sign language and translate it into text on a smartphone. Then the smartphone changes the text to spoken words. Thus you can understand sign language easily.

Google Glasses
Google Glasses are like a computer built into a pair of glasses. Then the glasses allow you to surf the Internet and make calls without even using a finger. The glasses also have a camera and a mapping system. Users can take and share photos, check maps and surf the Internet just by looking up, down, left and right.
续表
Indoor Clouds
That’s a real world. An artist, Smilde managed to create a small but perfect white cloud in the middle of a room by using a fog machine. But it required careful planning—the temperature, humidity (湿度) and lighting all had to be just right. The cloud only lasted for a short while, though.
续表
Wingsuits
The suit realizes your dream of flying like a bird. Well, not exactly flying, but gliding (滑翔) through the air. It increases the surface area of the human body, which makes it easier for people to float in the air. Fliers wearing wingsuits can glide one kilometer in about 30 seconds.

In 1901, Karl Landsteiner, an Austrian scientist, discovered that there are four types of blood. These four blood types are named A, B, AB and O. People have one of these four types. Blood type O is the most common around the world. Blood type A is the second most common, and type AB is the least common. If people with type A blood are given type B blood, or
people with type B blood are given type A blood, they will probably die.
In 1927, a Japanese doctor, Furukawa Takeji, did a research and found that people with different blood types also have different personalities. He said that people with type A blood are usually calm and serious; people with type B blood are curious(好奇的), cheerful, and outgoing; people with type O blood are
generous, that is to say they are willing to give money to people in need; while those with type AB blood are often caring, creative and careful.
More recently, a doctor in the United States wrote a book that connects blood types with what people eat. For example, his book suggests people with type O blood should eat more meat and less bread and people with type A blood should eat more vegetables. His book,
Eat Right for Your Type, has been popular with people who want to lose weight. (2022郴州改编)

David Bennett, a 57-year-old man from the US, received the world’s first pig heart transplant (移植) on January 7th, 2022. And he died on March 9th, 2022.
It may sound like a failure, but it actually is a big step forward for xenotransplantation(异种器官移植).
Xenotransplantation has been a hot topic in medical research for many years. Doctors and scientists
look for ways to solve the big problem of organ(器官)transplant waiting lists. In the US alone, over 100,000 patients are on a list waiting for new organs. Many of them will die before getting their chance to receive a heart or other important organs. As a result, medical science has turned to animal organs.
Doctors have experimented with xenotransplantation since the early 20th century. There
are few success stories. Usually, patients’ bodies reject(排斥)the animal organs. Bennett lived much longer than other xenotransplantation patients. That’s because scientists removed pig genes(基因)that would cause fast rejection. Then they added human genes to help the body accept the organ.
In fact, Bennett’s case was not the only success. Though these successes were short-lived, they show that
there may be a way forward for xenotransplantation. “A lot of new information will come out. The development of this field will get benefits from them and move forward at faster speed. ” Muhammad Mohiuddin, director of the transplant program, told The Guardian.
