The Million Pound Bank-Note
☆Writing Background

The young man in million pounds is a true portrait of Mark Twain. In Nevada, Mark Twain was a reporter in Virginia, a city rich in gold and silver. Under the gold rush(淘金热) Mark Twain was not immune, and he was sensitive to rumors and new opportunities.
At that time, many miners who had discovered gold and silver mines were selling their shares(股票) in New York City to raise funds, so Mark Twain put all his savings and even all his contributions into the stock purchase of silver mine.
As the stock price rose, he became very rich and came to Los Angeles to live a luxurious life. But then one day, like the Internet bubble in the late twentieth Century, the enthusiasm of the market for silver stocks disappeared, and share prices flew down. Mark Twin, like the young man in the million pound, became penniless or even bankrupt.
