Analysis of teaching material What: The listening materials are about animals and talks about favorable animals, reasons and characteristics. Why: Listening materials about animals help students know more about animals and set up awareness of protecting and cherishing animals. How: The teacher leads students to learn via pictures, guess game, group work, conversation, listening tasks, etc.
Teaching objectives Tough learning of today’s class, students can: 1. Remember vocabulary about animals and know characteristics of animals.(Learning and understanding) 2. Use sentences and phrases to describe animals and express feelings.(Applying and practicing) 3. apply related ways of language speaking, make a conversation about animals with partners.(Transferring and creating )
Teaching focus Listening: Listen for the main idea of listening material and grasp detail information in the listening material. Vocabulary: giraffe, koala, elephant, tiger, panda, lion, cute, smart, lazy, beautiful, interesting, fun.
Anticipated difficulties Students may feel it difficult to grasp the detail information in the listening material.
Know characteristics of animals and remember words about animals in guessing pictures. Teaching procedure 1.Show a picture of Zootopia and briefly introduce it and then ask students to look at the picture carefully and invite some students to point out what animals are in the picture. 2.Introduce the main character, the rabbit Judy. And in Judy’s tone, saying that Judy wants to make a guess game to introduce her new friends in zootopia. 3.Show the black shadow of six animals’ figure on the screen to let students to choose one and try to guess out according to given hints and information. Then show clear images of six animals and lead students to read them aloud. Introductions 1.The teacher leads students to know and remember words about animals. 2.The teacher arouses students’ interest in participating the guessing game. 3.The teacher leads students to observe pictures and animals’ characters.
Understand listening materials about animals and describe animals. 1.Finish the match task in 1a and check 1b according to the listening material. 2.Ask students to work in groups and use words in 1c to make a conversation about their favorable animals and reasons with their partners. 3.Ask students to listen to the material and finish 2a, and then the teacher asks students to answer with the sentence pattern of “...(the name of animals) are ... (adjective). They are from ...” 1.The teacher leads students to grasp the main idea and details in listening material. 2.The teacher leads students to describe animals.
Use words and phrases to make a conversation and role-play to talk about animals. 1.Listen again and complete 2b with words in 2a. And then the teacher asks students to make a conversation and invites some students to share. 2.Make a role-play with their partner. 1.The teacher leads students to make conversation and role-play
Homework 1.Read and recite the conversation of 2d in 26 2.Preview the grammar focus in 27 and try to finish the exercise 3a and 3b.
Blackboard design
Reflection Use topic and guess game to arouse students’ interest. Give students enough time and chance to make group work and practice communicative conversation. Consolidate words and sentence structure through practice. Lead students to use extensive listening and intensive listening to better understand listening material.
