语态是动词的一种形式，用来表明主语与谓语动词之间的关系。英语中有两种语态：主动语态和被动语态。
主动语态表示主语是动作的执行者，被动语态表示主语是动作的承受者。谓语动词为主动语态的句子叫主动句，谓语动词为被动语态的句子叫被动句。如：

一、被动语态的构成和用法
（1）只有及物动词有被动语态，助动词be有人称、数和时态的变化。
（2）用被动语态且需指出动作的执行者时，可用“介词by＋动词执行者（宾格）”这一结构。如：Midnight was written by Mao Dun.《子夜》是茅盾写的。
二、主动语态变为被动语态
1.主动语态中感官系动词或使役动词后的动词不定式省略to，该动词变为被动语态时，必须加上to。如：
A girl saw my wallet drop when she passed by.→My wallet was seen to drop by a girl when she passed by.
The boss made the little boy do heavy work.→The little boy was made to do heavy work by the boss.
2.接双宾语的动词改为被动语态时，两个宾语都可以作为被动句的主语。当指物的直接宾语作主语时，要在被动句中指人的宾语前加上介词to或for。如：
3.一些动词短语用于被动语态时应当看作一个整体，不能丢掉其中的介词或副词。如：
We can't laugh at him.→He can't be laughed at by us.
He set up the company three years ago.→The company was set up by him three years ago.
The nurse is taking care of the sick man.→The sick man is being taken care of by the nurse.
三、易错点突破
1.不及物动词无被动语态。比如happen, begin, become, go, come等。如：
What will happen in 100 years 一百年后会发生什么事情呢？
2.有些动词用主动形式表示被动意义，像系动词look, feel, smell, taste, sound和write, sell等。如：
This pen writes well.这支钢笔好写。
3.表示客观的说明常用“It is＋过去分词＋that从句”。这类句型有：
It is said that… 据说……　It is believed that… 大家相信……　It is reported that… 据报道……
如：It is said that Lucy has gone abroad.据说露西已经出国了。
4.want/need/require＋doing相当于want/need/require＋to be done。如：
My hair needs cutting.＝My hair needs to be cut.
我的头发需要修剪。
5.不可拆开的短语动词没有被动形式，如lose heart灰心、take place发生、make up one's mind下定决心、make faces做鬼脸。
