A video of a 66-year-old man called Erjiu has become popular in China after his nephew(侄子) Tang Hao shared the man's life story on Bilibili on Monday.
In the video, Erjiu is shown as a young genius that always did well at school during childhood. Sadly, when he was still a teenager, he once got a high fever but he was treated in the wrong way. As a result, Erjiu's left leg couldn't walk anymore. He became disabled.

Erjiu didn't get married, but adopted(收养) a little girl and called her Ningning. He used all of his savings—over 100,000 yuan—to buy Ningning a house when she got married 10 years ago, and was happy to do so. Now, he takes care of his 88-year-old mother all by himself. Nobody wants to lose, but we must accept that losing is a part of life. After all, we can't win all the time. However, we can learn something valuable from every failure. This may help us succeed in the future. So we must know how to be a good loser.
We must not be afraid of losing. When we lose, just take it with a smile and look on the bright side of it. Failure can't be avoided in our life. Edison failed 10,000 times before he invented the light bulb(灯泡). When he was asked how he felt, he said that he hadn't failed
10,000 times but had learned 10,000 things which didn't work. We must know that history is full of examples of men and women who achieved success although they failed many times.
Losing is not very disgraceful. We must accept our failure and learn to take advantage of it. Remember that it can be helpful. Take action to walk out of it. When we lose, think about what we did and how we can improve. If someone else can help, we'll be lucky enough. Maybe he or she has been through the same experience before. Many people enjoy helping others solve problems. This can save us a lot of time in learning how to avoid the same mistakes in the future.
We should face our failure when we lose. There is only one winner in every competition. Some win, while some lose. That is a usual way of life. If we offer our congratulations to the winners and share in their happiness, we won't feel sorry for our failure.
In a word, being a good loser will help us to succeed in life. It might be painful at the beginning, but there are many advantages. Good losers set examples to us, and most importantly, they finally win.

China has introduced a ban(禁令) which stops primary and middle school students from using mobile phones when they are at school. The ban is to protect students' eyes and help them fix their mind on their study. It might also stop them from spending too much time on the Internet and online games.
According to the ban, primary and middle school students should not bring mobile phones into schools. If students must have mobile phones at school, they have to hand in applications(申请表) which must be agreed and signed(签名) by their parents. Even if they are allowed to bring their phones to school, they should hand in their mobile phones to school teachers as soon as they get to school. The phones will be kept together and mustn't be brought into classrooms. They can take their phones back after school.
Teachers have also been told not to give homework through mobile phones. They are not allowed to ask pupils to complete their work on their phones, either. Schools will take further measures to help students get in touch with their parents when it is necessary.

Give Your Dead Batteries(电池) a New Life—Recycle Them
Batteries are used to power clocks, computers, tools and more. However, your batteries have some serious power when their lives are over.
WHY TO RECYCLE BATTERIES:
Remember, batteries are harmful waste. This means we should properly throw them away. You may not think one little battery can cause that much pollution. But don't think of it as just one battery—there can be millions. In Canada, each person uses about 20 single-use batteries every year. That's about 760 million batteries! If all these end up in landfills(垃圾填埋场), the heavy metals inside them can get into the water, land and air. It can be harmful to human and wildlife.
By recycling single-use batteries instead of throwing them away, you can cut down pollution and also help save energy. All batteries are mainly made of plastic and valuable metals. Through recycling programs, dead batteries can be changed into something useful like steel products, or even new batteries!
HOW TO RECYCLE BATTERIES:
Make a difference by starting to collect batteries at your home or school today. You can prepare a box for battery collection and invite friends, family and classmates to bring in old batteries to be recycled.
There are many safe ways to deal with your batteries. You can:
*Find a recycle public collection station near you.
*Ask the store where you bought the batteries if you can return them there.
*Communicate with your local city government to find out if there are special programs for recycling used batteries!

By using the “Culture and Tourism e-Village” program, which can be found on WeChat, visitors now can enjoy the views of 1,594 villages and 877 towns in East China's Jiangsu Province on their phones.
The program, developed by the Jiangsu Cultural Center, is made up of several parts, such as memories of the village, countryside tourism, e-business of cultural tourism and voluntary service.
For visitors, it gives introductions, pictures and travel guide of many villages. It allows visitors to check villages by using VR technology, learn about local histories and places of interest there, and book village hotels. For example, Qingdun Village of Hai'an City has used VR technology to present the whole village on the program. Travelers who are interested in Qingdun can learn about it by simply clicking on the screen.
For farmers, it allows them to advertise(宣传) their hometown, attend online training and take part in more cultural and tourism activities.
“I sell more grapes and strawberries by using the program,” said Zhang Feng, a villager from Baitu Town, Zhenjiang City. “I have faith in the quality of my products, but I had trouble selling them. Our town has been known to more people since it appeared on the program and they are interested in our products. Many villagers have enjoyed a better life with Baitu Town becoming famous”, he said happily.

Future City is a project-based learning program. It starts with a question—how can we make the world a better place To answer it, students in Grade 6, 7 adn 8 imagine, research, design, and build cities of the future. In this way, they can show their solutions(解决方案) to a citywide problem. So far, Future City has played an important role in encouraging middle students to develop their interest in science, technology, engineering, and math(STEM).
Each year, Future City has a theme. Past themes include stormwater management, public spaces, green energy and so on. The 2021—2022 theme is A Waste-Free Future. Teams will design a waste-free city. During the study, they need to hand in a 1,500-word city paper to give a general statement about the design. Besides this, they also need to hand in a model built from recycled materials. A project plan and a video that shows how they work together and how they present their ideas are required as well. At the same time, teams should get ready for the Q&A part with judges.
This program allows students to do the things that engineers do. For example, to start with, they should identify problems, and then come up with new ideas. Next, they work together to design solutions. After testing, retesting, and building, finally they share their results. This process is called the engineering design process. Centered around this, Future City is a great way to build students' 21st-century skills. It has a useful effect on encouraging students to use math and science while dealing with real-world problems. China has increased its official protection of pangolins(穿山甲). The protection level of all pangolins has been changed from Level 2 to Level 1. This means people who hunt, hurt, transport or trade the animal will be punished more heavily.
Pangolins are small mammals(哺乳动物). They are covered in scales(鳞片) and eat ants. Most of them live in China, South and Southeast Asia, and Africa.
Scientists believe pangolins are one of the world's most endangered animals. They say pangolins are “the most traded mammals in the world”. In the late 1990s, the number of local pangolins in China was about 60,000. They could be found in 11 provinces and areas. But over the past twenty years, their population has fallen by about 90 percent. Experts all over the world have called for greater protection for the animal.
China put a stop to pangolin hunting in the wild in 2007. However, people who hunted and ate pangolins weren't punished heavily. Traditional Chinese Medicine also uses pangolins. As a result, the hunting of pangolins continued.
Experts have praised the change in the list of China's protected animals. Zhang Li is a professor at Beijing Normal University. She said, “Raising pangolins' protection level is essential. The change this time will really help to save the animal.”

Many people are getting COVID-19 vaccine(疫苗) these days but some are afraid of needles(针). As a result, scientists around the world are working on new kinds of vaccines, and they hope to help people get vaccinated more easily.
Vaccines We Can Breathe in
Chinese scientist Chen Wei and her team have made a new vaccine. You can breathe it or have it into your mouth. “We have carried out tests since last September and we hope that this kind of vaccine can be used widely soon,” Chen said.
According to Chen, COVID-19 mainly gets into our body through our nose and throat. By breathing in the vaccine, people can get “mucosal immunity(黏膜免疫)”. This can kill COVID-19 in the nose and throat before it goes deeper into the body. This will help more people get vaccinated quickly.

Director Guo Jiyong and his team was invited by Henan TV Station to create an underwater video to mark the celebration of the Dragon Boat Festival which fell on June 14th, 2021. On June 12th, 2021, the video was shared by Henan TV Station on Sina Weibo and the Goddess of the Luo River came alive in it!
Not surprisingly, it has become popular and has been viewed more than 20 million times. However, the reason why the two-minute video named Pray becomes popular is that it was filmed underwater. He Haohao played the role of goddess. She learned not only her art well but the skills of holding her breath. All this was done with the most peaceful expression during the 50 seconds.
“The show is amazing and almost dreamlike. It brings a flying fairy alive,” someone wrote on Sina Weibo.
“With both underwater skills of making films and traditional Chinese dance, the show is so fantastic and allows people to enjoy traditional Chinese culture in a fresh way,” another person wrote.
After He was invited to play the role, she read a number of books about ancient Chinese goddesses and got the idea from flying fairies described in the paintings which were painted on a wall of the Mogao Grottoes in Dunhuang City, Gansu Province.
“I am always interested in traditional Chinese culture and I am happy to share the beauty of it with my show. In the water, my body blends with the waves under the water, which easily shows the beauty of an elegant(优雅的) and flying goddess,” said He. Looking at the undone homework on his desk always makes David Grey feel uncomfortable. More often than not, David leaves his homework behind and plays computer games or watches TV instead, waiting until the last minute. “But the longer I wait,” says David, aged 15, “the more I worry.”
Everyone procrastinates(拖延) because they want to feel good now. The way to do that is to avoid the task. You can procrastinate on nearly anything, even enjoyable tasks such as planning a vacation. “Some people procrastinate cleaning. Some people procrastinate by cleaning,” says Professor Peter Stone. Research has shown that the top tasks young people procrastinate are studying and going to bed. “One big cause for procrastination is that people are afraid of failure, of not meeting others' expectations,” Stone adds.
Some people believe that procrastination will make them thrive. But researchers disagree. “I did a study several years ago, asking procrastinators to finish a task in a certain period of time,” says Stone. “They did worse than non-procrastinators:They made more mistakes and they took longer. But they thought they did better.” No matter what the cause is, procrastination is usually not going to be good for you. For example, bedtime procrastination can lead to sleeplessness, which in turn can cause many other health problems.
For those who need some drives to stop procrastinating, the best advice might be to take action first. If you've been procrastinating on forming a habit of exercise, just put on your walking shoes. A little bit of progress will get you moving.
Next, find something to help you remember to take action. If you want to go to bed at 10:30 p.m., you might set a timed dimmer switch(渐暗开关) at 10 p.m. When the lights are dimmer, you'll start going to bed. It works for most people.
Finally, give yourself a prize every time you make progress. For example, after you've run 3 km, enjoy your favorite ice-cream. But be careful: It won't work the other way around.

The BDS is independently built by Chinese engineers. With the last BeiDou satellite from the Xichang Satellite Launch Center sent on June 23rd, 2020, the global network(全球网络) of 59 satellites (including 4 testing satellites) has been completed. On July 31st, 2020, BeiDou started providing full global services.

Now, BeiDou is able to send 1,200 Chinese characters in a si
