The childhood of Thomas A. Edison
Thomas Alva Edison was born
on 11th February, 1847, in Milan,
Ohio. He was the youngest child in his
family. The family was poor. After Edison
studied for three months at school, his
mother took him out of school. She taught
him at home.
Edison said many years later, “My mother raised(养育)me. She was so true, so sure of me, and I felt I should live for her. I must not disappoint her.”
Around the age of twelve, Edison lost almost all his hearing.
