语篇 A
“I’m bored!” is something parents often hear, and they usually respond by organizing some activities for their kids to do. But is that really helpful to them
Boredom means different things to different people and some may argue that boredom means you are not spending your time taking part in meaningful activities. “Only boring people get bored!” some parents have cried. Some of them can get so worried about the kids becoming upset, angry or feeling left out, so they try and schedule something every day. Up until children are in their early teens, they really don’t understand the meaning of time. Therefore, they don’t know how to manage it. A lot of kids try very hard or even argue with their parents to get free play, and it could be because parents have always controlled it, and always filled time with activities, outings or screen time.
Some parents think that it is more important to organize activities and outings every day and create schedules to make life easier. Every hour of the day should be used to keep the little minds active and happy. However, it can make the children think that they always need to be busy doing something. As a result, often, when life gets in the way and something doesn’t go according to plan, a child can easily become annoyed, impatient and angry because they don’t know what to do with themselves. They haven’t had a chance to “nothing”. This causes stress on both parents and children. Parents shouldn’t feel like they have to fill the boredom with something useful or educational.
By giving children time to think and create and use their own imagination, parents are allowing the kids to learn skills and qualities such as self-belief, working hard, self-confidence, playfulness, being focused and using their imagination without training.

Gwendolyn Brooks was the first African American to win a Pulitzer Prize for Literature. Gwendolyn Brooks wrote hundreds of poems during her lifetime. She was known around the world for using poetry to increase understanding about black culture in America.
Her poems described conditions among the poor, racial inequality and drug use in the black community. She also wrote poems about the struggles of black women. But her skill was more than her ability to write about struggling black people. She was an expert at the language of poetry. She combined traditional European poetry styles with the African American experience.
In her early poetry, Gwendolyn Brooks wrote about the South Side of Chicago. The South Side of Chicago is where many black people live. In her poems, the South Side is called Bronzeville. It was “A Street in Bronzeville” that gained the attention of literary experts in 1945. Critics praised her poetic skill and her powerful descriptions of the black experience during the time. The Bronzeville poems were her first published collection.
In 1950, Gwendolyn Brooks became the first African American to win the Pulitzer Prize for Literature. She won the prize for her second book of poems called “Annie Allen”. “Annie Allen” is a collection of poetry about the life of Bronzeville girl as a daughter, a wife and a mother. She experiences loneliness, loss, death and being poor. Ms. Brooks said that winning the prize changed her life.
Her next work was a novel written in 1953 called “Maud Martha”. “Maud Martha” received little notice when it was first published. But now it is considered an important work by some critics. Its main ideas about the difficult life of many women are popular among female writers today.
In some of her poems, Gwendolyn Brooks described how what people see in life is affected by who they are. One example is this poem, “Corners on the Curing Sky”.
By the end of the 1960s, Gwendolyn Brooks’ poetry expanded from the everyday experiences of people in Bronzeville. She wrote about a writer and dealt with important political issues.

We never think about it, but we all leave behind digital footprints every day. This includes emails, social media accounts (账号), cloud-stored photos, books, videos and music, and even virtual money.
All these things make up our “digital legacy” (数字遗产). What should we do with it all when we pass on from this life Can it be passed down
Apple is now testing a new digital legacy service. With it, people can pick “legacy contacts”. These friends and family can visit their Apple accounts after their death. This way, people can pass down photos, videos and other valuable data.
However, the service has raised heated debate. Some think it gives our loved ones something to remember us by. Our digital legacies can say something about our personalities. Some people have stayed connected with loved ones this way. At the age of 12, Xiaoqi (not his real name) lost his father, a big video game fan. Later, with the help of the game company, he logged on to (登录) his father’s game account, finding out he was a strong warrior in the game. “When I saw his back on the screen, it felt like he was there,”
Still, others think some parts of our digital legacy are too private to be shared. “Whether social media accounts, like WeChat and Sina Weibo, can be inherited (继承) is still questionable, because they are highly personal,” said Wang Cheng, a professor at Peking University Law School.
Zhou Caiyan, a 15-year-old from Hangzhou, Zhejiang, worries about this. “In general, I would like to pass down my digital legacy to my family members,” she said. “But I will first look through all the content and clear away things that are too personal.”
8. According to Apple, the digital legacy of dead users ________.
A. is ignored by the company
