In 1969,watching the landing of Apollo 11 on the Moon on TV from his parents' farm in Canada, Chris Hadfield was amazed and excited. On that day, at only nine years old, Chris made the most important decision of his life: He was going to be an astronaut.
There wasn't even a training program in Canada to become an astronaut; but Chris was determined. He spent a great deal of time studying and fixing engines. After school he joined the Canadian army where he learned to fly many different types of planes. Chris did a lot of research for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) in the United States and had special training. Finally, in 1995 he rode his first rocket into space.
Chris became the first Canadian astronaut to walk in spare, and went on a number of space missions throughout his career. The most memorable was his five-month stay on the International Space Station(ISS) as commander, between December 2012 and May 2013. He posted on social media thousands of photos of Earth and videos of himself explaining how things work in zero gravity. His followers could watch him sleeping, brushing his teeth, washing his hands, or preparing “space” snacks in zero gravity, which turned him into a social media phenomenon.
Today,Chris travels the world giving talks about his work. He once said,“Decide in your heart of hearts what really excites and challenges you, and start moving your life in that direction. Every decision you make, from what you eat to what you do with your time tonight, turns you into who you are tomorrow. Look at who you want to be, and start sculpting yourself into that person. You may not get exactly where you thought you'd be, but you will be doing things that suit you in a profession you believe in. Don't let life randomly kick you into the adult you don't want to become.”
24.What led Chris to make up his mind to be an astronaut
A.The life on his parents' farm.
C.Apollo 11's landing on the Moon.
B.His ability to fly various planes.

B.The pictures and videos he posted online.
C.His inspiring talks about his work around the world.
D.His great contributions to Canada's space industry.
26.What can we learn from Chris' words in the last paragraph
A.Courage is what it takes to overcome difficulties.
B. Opportunities go hand in hand with challenges.
C.From small beginnings come treat endings.
D.The key to success lies in the firm aim.
27.Which of the following best describes Chris
A.Strong-willed and hardworking.

All 50 states received final approval Tuesday to begin construction on a first nationwide network of EV charging stations(电车充电站)that places one roughly every 50 miles (80 kilometers) along interstate highways, part of the Biden administration's plan to encourage widespread use of zero-emission(零排放)cars.
The Transportation Department said it had OK'd EV charger plans from a last set of 17 states, causing the release of $1.5 billion in federal funds to all jurisdictions(权限)nationwide-or $5 billion over five years-to build or upgrade chargers along 75,000 miles (120,000 kilometers)of highway from coast to coast, with a goal of 500,000 EV chargers nationwide. Plans for the other 33 states and the District of Columbia were approved earlier this month.
By year's end, drivers could start seeing expansions and upgrades to existing highway EV stations in states such as California, Colorado, Florida and Pennsylvania that now have at least four fast-charger ports, enabling EVs to fully recharge in about an hour.
"America led the original car revolution in the last century, and. .. we're prepared to lead in the 21st century with electric vehicles," said Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg. He said the plans will “help ensure that Americans in every part of the country can be positioned to unlock the savings and benefits of electric vehicles.”
The approval is a major step toward building widespread acceptance and use of electric vehicles among consumers, who most often express unwillingness over EVs' shorter range and limited use of public chargers. President Joe Biden has set a goal that 50% of new U.S. car sales be electric by 2030,and his administration touts(推销)new tax credits next year of up to $7,500 as making electric vehicles accessible for everyday Americans. Still, the five-year plans suggest a potentially long and rough road ahead for a highway EV network, with states saying risks such as a lack of electricity grid capacity(电网容量),supply chain shortages and equal rights concerns.
28.What's the real purpose of the EV network plan
A.To unlock the advantages of EVs.
B.To enable the spread of EV chargers.
C. To make the government funds available to all states.
D.To encourage the spread of environment-friendly EVs.
29.Paragraph 2 centers on
A.the number of chargers to be built
C.the approval of the charger plans
B.the miles of EV chargers to cover
D.the introduction of the whole plans
30.What may the following paragraph deal with
A.Examples of successful building.
C.Possible problems in some states.
B.The bright future of EV market.
D.The impressive progress of the plan.
31.Which is the best tittle of the report
A.All 50 states can use EV chargers now
C.Advantages and disadvantages of EVs
B.States get final OK to highway EV chargers
D.A 5-year plan to promote EVs in the USA

Countries around the globe are spending billions of dollars and lots of time on various space missions, whether to Mars or other planets much further away. Some people argue that we should stop wasting time and money exploring space. Instead, we should feed the poor and find immediate solutions to other problems, such as pollution and fatal diseases. However, others feel this is a shallow view which fails to realize how exploring space helps us.
Firstly, exploring space has already made a difference in the fight against world hunger. It has directly resulted in the many satellites that now orbit Earth. A number of the satellites record data on land and weather patterns. Then the data is transmitted to scientists on Earth. After careful analysis, the scientists can provide useful recommendations and advice for farmers. As a result, space-based science has helped farming in its efforts to grow enough food to feed Earth's increasing population.
Secondly, space exploration has already promoted technological improvements that benefit us all. High-end products around the world are made to a higher standard now because of advanced technology which was first created to meet the requirements for space exploration. For example, space technologies have helped the research and development of different types of new material. They have also helped companies make better heart monitors and other machines that doctors regularly use. Today, space technologies are widely used in all kinds of industries, and everyday products, such as memory foam pillows and smartphone cameras, are changing our lives.
Finally, sending astronauts into space has helped people to think about the world's problems and even to find ways to solve them. Seeing pictures of our planet as an island in a black sea made people realize that our planet's resources are limited. In order to provide for such a rapidly increasing population, scientists are trying to find other planets that could one day be our new home. The greatest attention at present is on Mars because it is closer to Earth. In the future humans may live on both planets.
In closing, exploring space provides the world with many different benefits. Therefore, it should continue so as to provide new and better solutions to people's short-term and long-term problems.
32.What will the writer go on to say next
A.How to send many more satellites into space.
B.When to live on Mars.
C.How to use space technologies to make everyday products.
D.How to go on exploring space.
33.What did help the research and development of different types of new material
A.Space technologies.
C.Excellent astronauts.
B.Many weather satellites.
D.Billions of dollars and lots of time.
34.Which one of the following can't be learnt about according to this passage
A.Scores of the satellites record data on land and weather patterns.
B.Most people argue that we'd stop wasting time and money exploring space.
C.Space technologies are widely used in all kinds of industries.
D.Human beings may live on both planets someday.
35.What does the underlined phrase “In closing" in the last paragraph mean
A.Most importantly.
C.To conclude.
B.In addition.
D.What's worse.

Reasons Why Change Is Good for You
We all know that change is hard because your brain is used to doing the same thing again and again. 36 But the positive consequence is really great. Here are four reasons why change is good for you:
You are pushed out of your comfort zone.
37 You simply follow a routine and you can predict the results. Outside of the comfort zone, your assumptions are questioned. The idea of doing the same thing over and over without question is discouraged.
38
Change is good because you have the chance to involve in new experiences. When you look back on your life, all of the really amazing things are because of a new experience you had. All of those vacations you took and all of the people you have met have taught you more than you ever learned in school. These experiences now make up who you are today.
You'll be more flexible and adaptable.
Without doubt, change makes you more flexible and adaptable. You learn to deal with things in a way that seems foreign but acceptable and achievable. 39 You begin to thrive(茁壮成长)in new situations because you have proven to yourself that you can, not only handle change, but FLOURISH.
You have more fun.
When you are open to change, you are open to saying YES to more. You are open to more experiences and opportunities. 40 When you add all of these things together, you are going to have a more colorful life and you'll have a ton of fun figuring it all out along the way-there's no doubt
about it.
A.You get to experience more.
B.Life in the comfort zone is easy.
C.Experience is waiting for you at the doorstep.
D.You have the opportunity to meet more people too.
E.Whether the change is good or bad for you, it does happen.
F. We also know how challenging it can be to go through change.
G. Then, you’ll be more confident when in the next uncomfortable situation.

Good morning, this is Antonio with Turin News at Nine, bringing your weekend weather forecast. We’re about to experience a late spring storm across the southern Alps. 12 inches of snow could fall in the higher parts of the mountains in Italy. In the valleys, that snowfall will turn into about 6 inches of heavy rain. On the western end of the mountains in France, the snow will be lighter. Only 4 inches is expected to fall on the highest passes(山口).The eastern end will likely get no snow at all. Only about 3 inches of rain will fall instead, due to the warmer air coming from the sea. The storm will completely miss the mountains in Switzerland. That part of the mountains is just recovering from a bigger storm that brought 24 inches of snow to the area last week. So, that is the best place to go for a ski trip this weekend. Lots of good snow and sunny skies. This has been your weekend weather report with Antonio on Turin News at Nine.

A Chinese Classical Music Concert
A Chinese classical music concert was held in the school hall on Saturday night. Many masterpieces of ancient musicians, such as High Mountain and Flowing Water and The Spring Snow, were played by a famous band. The students present felt the mountain, the water, the winter snow, the silk and bamboo and the endless call of life flowing in the air at the concert.
The concert was really popular with the students, especially those who love Chinese classical music. Many said that they would pass on the traditional music and look forward to the next music feast.
